plingboot Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I wonder if anyone can help with a problem I'm having? I bought an EV3 brick, second hand from ebay - I downloaded the EV3 application from the Mindstorms site and installed it (I'm on a MacPro with High Sierra 10.13.1). Installation went ok, however, when I launch the app, the splash screen appears, but after a few seconds it becomes unresponsive - hanging on the splash screen. I've tried both the education and home versions of the app, but have the same problem with both. Does anyone have any ideas/solutions? Thanks Quote
doug72 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Upgrade to High Sierra 10.13.3 and try again. Quote

Jantayg Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I had a similar issue the other day, I had to delete and reinstall microsoft silverlight. After that it worked. Quote

plingboot Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 I tried that, twice, but no luck :-( Quote
doug72 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Asked my son who is an IT engineer and this is his response :- "Hard to say. I wonder if he has the brick connected when starting the app. He could try disabling Bluetooth. The forums talk about Silverlight issues. Here’s a Lego guide to fixing it." https://education.lego.com/en-gb/support/mindstorms-ev3/software-launch-issues Doug Quote
RohanBeckett Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 all the issues on Windows with EV3 software I've had - working in schools.. 95% of the time, it was silverlight. even with it installed, and up-to-date.. it could fail to launch EV3. to fix, I'd sometimes have to uninstall silverlight... clear out any silverlight leftover files (on disk, and in registry), and install a fresh, latest version.. and then it'd work Not one of TLG's best decisions to use this particular programming system.... (at least it wasn't flash! ;) Quote
plingboot Posted February 5, 2018 Author Posted February 5, 2018 Finally managed to get it working on a MacBook Pro instead. There seems to be no obvious reason why it should work on one and not the other - I tend to agree that Silverlight is probably at the bottom of the problem. Quote
