LuxorV Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Hi all, it's time to get back to mecha building *y* Here is my first remake of an Exo-Force classic battle machine: the Ultimate Nova Pic is link to the gallery (when public :-$ ). I kept the general design, but gave it a better look, with more solid armour, better proportions for the weapons (solar staff in particoular), and a close cockpit. It was a 3(-ish) hours work :-$ . Comments and critics are welcome. Wait for more next weeks ;-) . LuxorV Quote
DJ Force Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Cool! Very good improvements, although the original wasn Quote
zero1312 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I really like these mechs of yours, great job!! *y* Quote
No_Name Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 That is brilliant....I like every thing........10/5 Quote
Cyclone Titan Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Wow! I had the Supernova(before it got dismantled :-P ), and if this was on the market, I would buy it! Quote
SuvieD Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 As with all the Exo mecha, this is weak in the hips where the joints are exposed. If it had more armor that could help protect those, then you could say this is the ultimate. To make hip armor that allows the build to still be functional and not look stupid will not be easy. But really, even if it doesn't look the best, it is for war and there is no place for style in war. I also don't like the bioniclish staff like weapon. I would say switch it out for a claw or something that is more suited for hacking open other mecha cockpits. Nice build and the colors are great. Moc on! Quote
Asuka Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 A very nice work, especially with the cockpit and the feet. *y* Maybe the black plate in the back still looks a little blank.... 8-| Quote
hoang Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 ultimate nova was one of the favorite out of the exo-force theme, even not release in the US but i managed to get a hold of it :-) awesome remake it looks more robust Quote
ExoBuilder Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Darn it Luxor, I was going to do this! Well, yours will probaly look better than mine :-$ This is awesome! There's nothing better then a souped up super nova *y* You should do more of these. *sweet* Quote

Batbrick Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 (edited) Ah LuxorV, one of the best guys on EB and one of the best builders too! *y* I love this remake, the original is great but I certainly like this more, I'm a sucker for closed cockpits. As noted before the hips are thje weakest part, I think a coverage over them could be done using a few slopes. Other than that this is practically perfect, fantastic job as always! Now stop making my mechs look bad... To the Bricksignal! >:-) Edited March 4, 2008 by Batbrick Quote

You're always too kind to my works :-$ Since we build with quite different styles, I don't think my mecha can ever make yours look bad ;-) . Are you working on some new mecha project now? here's my first remake of nova but in white Nice design! I take it now the solar fins are used to energize the blade, right? ;-) LuxorV Quote

Not nice enough, this is brilliant, a masterstroke of slopes for a great recreation and updation *y* I am not working on a mech yet, too much on my plate (Interactive Apocalypse, Bat Mocs'N'Mods Treat 2, APC, Last Stand scenes), but I do have plans for a piloted, humanoid version. But stop talking about me, this is yours! :-D I must say with this one, and with more recent jobs, you've noticeably improved your mecha designs. Originally, my favouirte part of your mecha was the feet, they were always perfect. But now, everything else is catching up, the whole design is much more coherent with no major spots of imperfections. Great job, I really look forward to what you make next, whether it be City, Mecha or something else. I would like to see you try a non-bipedal mech though, that would be interesting... >:-) To the Bricksignal! >:-) Edited March 5, 2008 by Batbrick Quote

Well, just give me a month (to finish some work projects that make me very busy at the moment :'-( ), and I'll start building something in that direction ;-) . LuxorV Quote
