etr102 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Does anybody know a way to disassemble this type of turntable? Apparently it's called a Z28 turntable but it is composed of element# 4652236 and 4652235. When I've googled it I've read that these pieces can't be disassembled without damaging the plastic? The Lego 10257 Carousel uses these pieces, and they are each a part of a major sub-assembly which eventually attach to each other. I'm working on disassembling the set but want to be able to rebuild it at a later date. Trying to build the individual sub-assemblies without separating this turntable might be difficult/inconvenient. Suggestions? Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 build a contraption that grabs the turntable and then you just pull a lever to take them apart Quote
doug72 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 (edited) Took me 10secs to split it apart using a needle point inseerted between the gray part and the black part. Push needle point in the small gap and then prise them apart.BUT the inner section of the gray half gets crushed !!! Edited January 26, 2018 by Doug72 Quote
aminnich Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Going off what Carsten said, u could put them apart with 2 LAs and retract them Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 It's not hard to take them apart, just grab each half and pull. HOWEVER YOU WILL DESTROY THE GRAY HALF IN THE PROCESS!!! DON'T DO IT!!! It will NOT work anymore! Quote

Saberwing40k Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Don't bother, you should be able to reassemble the set with a whole turntable. Just drop it on top. I checked the instructions, and the top part, which attaches to the turntable, is only held on by pins. There is no need to dismantle the turntable. Quote
etr102 Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 Thanks for the replies. I don't want to risk damaging the turntable and having to order a new one. I think the consensus is that I'll leave the turntable together. Thanks for the help/suggestions everybody! Quote
