"Damn," Kiray let out a whistle. "2000 gold? That's a bit too much for what we have. Say, is the Stealth Shadow around? He and I go a way back. If he was here, I'd love to see him, even if he couldn';t join us." Kiray then begins to hum the tune her mother taught her thatthe Stealth Shadow noticed, just in case.

Kiray kept humming the tune in her head when she heard the knocks. "A day early? Well, that's more efficient than most governments." The Warden went to the door and intimidated "Give us a second to open the door! Do you haver any idea how many locks are on this thing? We're scientists trying to protect our information from corporat espionage." She turns to the rest of the party and the scientists. "This should give us a few moments. Hopefully. If not, well, this won't be happy.|

Kiray hears a gruff response on the other side.

"Miss," said Throlar diplomatically, "I believe it would be a good idea for you to make all haste in sending us through. Additionally, you may want to reconsider the price you're asking for an automaton as sending them through with us seems to be the only way you'll keep them out of the council's hands at this point."

"Thank you for your offer, but we've got a couple airships waiting just outside of town, they can be here in a few moments, we just need to stall these guards in the meantime. I'm afraid I can't risk sending of all our equipment into the Faerie without a way to return it, plus if it's as dangerous as you say, I don't want to imagine it falling into even worse hands than the council."

"Excellent.

How quickly can the gate be geared up?"

Lind listened and tried to get a rough idea how many people were standing outside the door. If there are any cracks on the door, he peers through them.

"He makes a fair point..."

"The gate would take only a few minutes of my time."

Lind checks the door and can barely make out a dozen soldiers with a rather large imposing figure standing a full head and shoulders taller than the rest of the group bringing up the rear.

"Bringing automatons to the Faerie..." I muse aloud, thinking about the consequences such an action could have.

That's the problem with such things, they become a danger no matter whose hands they are in.

"We cannot let the council have those things...You should accompany us through the portal, if you can, miss..."

26256200907_3797d46e1a_t.jpg
"I'm afraid, I can't do that. With nearly a dozen scientists here and a dozen more lab hands, they are my responsibility. If we only had a few minutes more, I think we could manage all of our escapes."

He took up a defensive stance, alongside Vindsval.

"Let's not get into a fight." Karie says. "They're not supposed to be here until tomorrow. Let's remind them of that.

Monalisa, do I have your permission to use your likeness? I'm going out there and I'm going to try to either stall or get them out of here."

Karie downs two grand tonics and uses her scroll of Scroll of Magical Disguise, using up twenty ether to disguise herself to look like Monalisa.

"Mind if I borrow your glasses?" She motions to Monalisa. "You'll get them back. Stay inside, and don't do anything irrational unless things turn south." Karie shouts to the crowd outside, adjusting her voice. "Hold on a minute! Give me a moment! I'm coming!"

"What about the one's you're wearing?"

Karie notices that her illusory disguise comes with glasses.

"Oh. Well, that'll do then." Karie was not entirely sure how convincing this outfit looked, but she hoped to get the Council off the Tritech company's back. There was no time like the present.

"Be ready incase this goes poorly. You'll know if it goes poorly, trust me. Break a leg, everyone." Karie moves to the door and steps outside to meet the Council members.

"Good day. I thank you for being patient. What do we owe the pleasure of your visit?"

By the gods of those above and below, your name is Whisperer for Wanderer's sake.  Can you not for once shut your mouth and keep quiet.  Step back as much as you can.  Perhaps the Mistress may yet get us out of this alive.  Though, if that is truly the Mountain, There is little doubt you have ended all of our Paths.

Vindsval pushes back away from the door, doing his best to break any line of sight those outside may have.

Karie internally sighed in relief. The ruse had so far been successful.

“I’m sorry. Some of my colleagues are slightly perturbed over handing over our automatons to you.” Karie replied. “You must understand, some of my friends here at Tritech view our creations as not just machines made of steel. They feel like they’re losing friends.

What brings you here today, sir? And what’s with the armed men?”

Karie furrowed her eyebrow.

”I can perhaps understand your concern, but this seems a little rushed. We were preparing to have this all ready for you by tomorrow. You must understand that we here at Tritech wish to cooperate with the Council to the best of our abilities, but the automatons are not ready, and we work on a tight schedule. I am sorry, but I’m going to have to ask you to return tomorrow.” Karie then bows in respect to the Mountain, raising herself up afterwards. She wanted to ensure she could see him. “Please understand that I, nor anyone else in the Tritech Company mean you or the Council any disrespect.”

Would the Party stay near Karie at the door or follow the doctor to the basement laboratory?

I hand Throlar the Scrolls I have and the Lens of Speed Reading, I then, give:
Shadeaux Mace (WP: 9; deals *Fragile* effect; Mace),
Glacial Mace (WP: 12; has 1/2 chance to cause *Slowed*;
Ice-elemental; Mace),
Shredding Star (WP: 13; removes all temporary effects from the target; Mace),
Honed Axe (WP:10, cuts target's SP in half, Axe)

to whoever wants them.

"Throlar, Kiray, Lind, I strongly recommend that you arm yourselves with some of these. They could be a great help in whatever is ahead.
"I think we should wait around for Karie for now. I can see 101 ways how this could go south and not many of how it could work out well."[/color]

Let me know if you want any of my artifacts as well. I think you guys should de-equip any artifacts that you were using for a disguise but that wasn't particularly stats-worthy.

Let it show you your Path.
