Mr Spielbrick Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 (I can already hear the flaming for using fleshies in a non-licence theme... but hey, I like fleshies.) Okay, so, sitting in my room, nothing to do. I looked at my CD tower and noticed... the Ennio Morricone collection. Listening to the music, I grabbed some bricks and put together a simple gallow. The figs soon followed and my first attempt at a little Western scene was born: Any kind of (constructive) comment is much appreciated. :-) Quote
nausicaakro Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 oh, well, i like it. No problem for fleshie faces. We can survive for this ;-) i like to know some story particulars about this vignette. Why the young cowboy take in chains the old man?, who is the little poor skellie? please tell me more *sweet* nausicaakro Quote
xwingyoda Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Ah great work there Spielbrick ;-) Always been a great fan of Sergio Leone spag westerns, so its great to have a vig on that theme !! Great Blondie Mf there 8- Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Nice use of the new torsos and faces! *y* *y* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Nice job Spielbrick. I knew that Indy's hat would look good for Wild West. You've pulled it off real well. I'm not sure who the guy at the end of the chain is though? - that's not Tuco or Angel Eyes, is it? Quote
The Penguin Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Well done, twin-brother! )))) :-D I really like the scene: it has its own unique atmosphere! ) *y* And, erm.... I also like fleshies a lot! ;-) *Evading rotten tomato* :-) The only thing that should be altered, in my opinion, is the rope.... Well, it doesn't look right here, but overall - *y* *y* *y* Quote
meschepers Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I am also a huge fan of Sergio Leone's "Man With no Name" trilogy. I like the use of the fedora over TLC's goofy cowboy hat. That was good. I will go along the lines of Yoda here and say that he needs a poncho. Wouldn't be too hard to find a scrap of brown cloth and cut a hole in it to put over the torso. that would make it so much cooler. Quote
iamded Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 A very cool scene indeed, rather, hm, solemn? Anywho, great choice of figures, the fleshies look great, I actually really like your characters. *y* I don't have anything against fleshies, just fleshies mixed with yellowies. :-X ;-) ~Peace Quote
maiq the liar Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Well, as for the whole fleshie deal, i am mostly indifferent because i consider the fleshies as the lego equivalent of Caucasians/African Americans/Anyone else with different skin tone. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 (edited) Ooh, wide support for fleshies. *sweet* Didn't expect that. *y* I actually didn't spot the grey/bley till on the photo, *yoda*. It was dark here when I built it. But I agree, it would look better if the two weren't mixed. And Penguin, I too feel the rope isn't great. The vig was just a spur-of-the-moment thing, so I didn't think the details through too much. But yeah, the rope is definitely something that can do with an update. As for Sergio Leone westerns... This vig isn't directly based on any of his films, more the tone and type of characters and scenes. Once Upon a Time in the West has been described as 'a dance of death', which I feel is reflected in this vig. The young hero rises above the old villain, fallen in the sand by the gallow, where he will likely end. The weight of the chain and prisoner holds up the hero, who knows he might face a similar fate one day. My vague attempt at symbolism, haha! About the hero: I've been toying around with names, the most recent being Vincent 'The Glove' Delaware. Vincent suggest winning, Delaware is also called 'The First State', which would make Vincent sound like a pioneer on the Frontier. Who knows, we might seem him again in another vig... ;-) Thanks for the comments! Always nice to know your work is noticed. And your suggestions offer great insight in what can be improved. Gracias amigos! Edited February 29, 2008 by Mr Spielbrick Quote

Tanotrooper Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 hail to the fleshies! *wub* very nice scene there. I love the composition of the cowboy, everything looks right in place. TT P.S. we need fleshie emoticons! spread the word! Quote
SirNadroj Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Nice work! I must say, you have a knack for putting together some awesome minifigure combinations! *wub* I would say, though, I don't like how the baseplates are going. Maybe juxtapose them evenly? Quote
