I have a problem.

I recently moved and therefore have a huge building site with a comfy bed in the middle. I work from 9 to 6 and have only 2 or 3 hours in the evening for setting up the kitchen, the living room and so on.

Do you know this feeling, too? Did you have similar experiences? How did you cope with that?

By the way... Latest example is this Zoo thread

Hi!

I've got a wife. I.e. in such a situation (which might come up soon because we might need to move), making the home comfy will be the chief priority.

When I was single, I procrastinated stuff in favor of my hobbies, leaving me with some makeshift solutions turning into steady-state ...

Paying bills, cleaning the house, shopping for groceries - they all pale in comparison to the fun that is building MOCs! :-D

The awesome ideas seen on this site and other places make me wish I could just design, build, and redo all day long...

I build vignettes.

Can be challenging and fun, but don't take a lot of space or time.

Making modular things can help too. Then you can do a few little parts and expand as time, space and money allow. That's what I did with my Viking Village. I started small (one house) and then just kept expanding it.

Interesting topic DJ Force. I too, have felt these thoughts, esp. after moving almost two years ago. All my Lego was packed away, and I needed to move an entire household (not just the Lego). In fact, I still have the majority of sets still boxed in the garage. My strategy, and also for space, is to pick one theme at a time. As an example, I'm doing Indy/Jungle Adventure right now (Jungle Adventure). This keeps me busy with one theme without any focus on all the other great sets and themes stored away.

More so; however, I have a problem decididing which new Lego theme I want to invest in and spend time building and displaying. I've got all the Indy sets built (some of which are displayed in my jungle), and others on shelves. I've got just a few non-Adventure sets on shelves (including the Crab Crusher Sub and a few misc City sets). Much of my focus is trying to balance time with work, family, and the computer (plus some Lego building time).

My recommendation is that you get your house in order as a 1st priority and while you do so, give yourself a little time to buid Lego if you need a break. Once you get the house organized, then you'll have lots of free time for building that zoo or other display you want to pursue. I wish you luck. *y*
