current stage, done::

Inspired by the 42065 with setting myself the goal to make it as small as possible.

Does this qualify as model team style building?

so of course the nano tracked pullback was a little joke, something i had already made amd posted it while figuring out what to make,

i did not want to make a basic good looking car without any function, i wanted a technically (somewhat) interesting object

I always forget to take pictures while i am building/designing, but here are some photos on my actual WIP:

2 simple geaboxes with neutral, forward and reverse.

2 pullback motors, they are linked by gears, the tracks have rubber bands on them, something i use in the 42065 but probably will not in this final design.

Pulling back the tank is not really a option, it will stress the lego too much, in stead this has a wind up system with a ratchet, so you wind it up, put it down, select the drive mode and then flick the switch (dark greay L-beam between the  pullback motors to make it run, the picture above shows the 16t gear and the red axle-pin connector which act as a ratchet, on the opposing side on the same axle you can wind it up.

What do you think i should build on top of the base? i am leaning towards making it another addition to my 42065 look-a-like family, but maybe one of you has a better idea?

That probably would look the best... Maybe you could build a more fancy version? - with opening doors, and a seat for a Technic guy?

Time for an update with the few pictures i took during the build,

@mocbuild101 suggested openable doors but I made it an openable cabin, powered by a small pullback motor, it also powers a V2 fake engine when used.

After opening the cabin, it can easily be pushed down to bring it back to position (and give a small extra turn to the rear of the fake engine to make it retract fully)

All the controlls are in the rear, in the picture above you can see the orange knob for opening the cabin, the yellow part is what hold the racthet in place, put a finger behind it and wind up the motors, push it in to release the ratchet.

The left and right rear spoilers control the direction of the tracks, they will roll in the direction they are pointing, with a mechanism similar to this:

A technic guy would not fit so a normal size Lego figure took it's spot.

I think it is about done, just a video to go..i might change some minor details but i should already have started with the video...anyway.. nearly there!

nice finished version, but i don't like the body. It's a copy of the 42065 and i know that's what the topic is called, but i think it doesn't fit in the 'mind' behind the contest it's made to make new moc's, not half moc's. i really think you can come up with something better.

but still, nice chassis

I knew this comment would come :)

I can understand you feel it is a copy of the 42065, of course I tried to make it look like it (just like my other 4 look-a-likes) but in reality there are only 12 parts (not counting the tracks) in the same position, everything including the cabin, has been built from the ground up to make eveything work and fit.

If a look-a-like is reason for disqualification or low votes, so be it, im not in this to win, i am in this for the fun and I enter to try and show something new or different.

I personally do not care about how it looks, im all about the functions, i don't think this technic contest was about decorating a pullback motor, but to each his own way to have fun building, to me this was fun!

I'm in the same cathegory as you, i'm also a guy of function, nether do i care of how it looks, but when it's finnished i try to make a nice body around it, which can take me more as 2x the time of building the inner part. but when i do, i get a feeling it's much more finnished.

still, i get your point

I disagree with TNLD, you did a great job making it different. I see no reason to disqualify.
