Flavius Gratian Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 (edited) In parts of the Madrice peninsula there are people who have for ages worshipped gods different to those of the Faith: the Aesir. In Garvey, Namere and even Varcoast there are still enclaves, but the Old Gods' strongest foothold is in Corrington. Some claim that the Aesir have been worshipped since before the Great Empire. Regardless of whether this is true or not, scholars agree that it is old indeed. Archeological finds and old texts indicate that it was once a warlike and brutal religion, including blood sacrifices. However, Norse-mythology has kept pace with modernity and is today as civilised as any other, and in Corrington it co-exists amicably with both the Faith and the rational sceptics. In Wentham County, Aesir traditions have a strong influence on daily life, particularly around the Midwinter Solstice. After a great feast on Midwinter's Eve all rise in the early morning of Midwinter's Day to go to mass that traditionally it ends just by dawn. Here we see the townsfolk waiting for the Church doors to open. As befit their station, the local nobles and notables of Wentham County enters church first to take the front rows. First of all is naturally the Earl of Wentham and his eldest son, Vicount Altridge. Flavius Gratian Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 My post seems to have gone under radar so I thought I'd bump it up, in hope of some response Quote
Darnok Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I did notice, but can not comment before voting has been finished. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 It's a nice church façade. I like the steeple and stained glass window, and the patches of snow on the ground are a very nice effect. I also like that you have brought another religion into the game to balance against Oleon's Faith. Quote
Bregir Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Lovely church, Flavius, and the stained glass windows are simple yet effective. I am also loving the introduction of a new faith (particularly that one... Might be predisposed... ;)) and hope you will develop it further in the future.IIf I can find the time and opportunity, I might want to join those efforts. As to slow commenting, I personally find it hard to keep up these days, but I will try to take the time! :) Quote
Ayrlego Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Great concept introducing another religion - I like the concept of the old Gods. The church itself is nice but the minifig posing out the front particularly appeals to me for some reason. The 'mood lighting' is very well done and I think makes the scene. All in all a very good entry - well done! Quote
