Mesabi Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Medium Cultural The Church of the Order in Mesabi Landing was usually where weddings were held. Wedding crashing by North White, on Flickr "Dear friends and family.... We are... gathered here.... today" The priest droned. Wedding crashing by North White, on Flickr "To.... join... these.... two in.... holy matrimony..." *BANG* Wedding crashing by North White, on Flickr Agnes walked into the church, pistol smoking, drunk as hades. Wedding crashing by North White, on Flickr "So! You's the happiest couple! Well let me tell you people about getting married....." Wedding crashing by North White, on Flickr "Madam, you should leave...." Said the groom. Wedding crashing by North White, on Flickr Agnes knocked him to the floor. "I pronounce you man! And... ah who cares." She slurred Wedding crashing by North White, on Flickr Agnes ran out, leaving the wedding guests in stunned silence. FIN So, I got a sailboat with clear sails for Christmas, and I wanted to experiment with them as stained glass windows. I'm not sure if it worked, but I'll let y'all be the judge of that. Originally I was going to make this be Agnes sitting through a boring church service, but I thought this would be funnier. Hopefully it's not to sacreligious. C&C appreciated! Quote
Lord Buckethead Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Wow, I never even thought about using those sails like that, I think they work quite well, obviously they would be better without the number but I'm not sure if you can remove that. And once again another hilarious story, good job. Quote
Darnok Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Hehe, nice little story! The sails work surprisingly well, I have never thought of this. Great idea! The numbers are pretty distracting though, but they could be hidden behind some round arches (like you will find in many church windows). 4 hours ago, Mesabi said: Hopefully it's not to sacreligious. I have no idea how it could be considered this. What a strange comment! Quote
Elostirion Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 What kind of church is this? Which gods / religion are being prayed to here? Would be interested to hear more about the lore. The sails are indeed a fantastic idea, I'd second Lord B's suggestion to hide the numbers. Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 What an original way to use those sails ! Good idea ! I agree with the other comments that hiding the numbers could have helped, but something difficult to do... Good job ! Quote
Mike S Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Definitely an innovative use for those sails! I see a scientific mind at work! I do however think that Drunknot’s suggestion of covering the numbers with arches would have perfected the idea. Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 I think they work well .. Some creative iron work would help hide the numbers Quote
dr_spock Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Clever use of the sails. You could say that 2509 is the address number of the church... Quote
