cheapest way to get started on hoth

hey yall, i recently got the 2014 at at walker and i think its about time i built a display for all my hoth vehicles. i was looking on bricklink at white 32x32 baseplates but theyre crazy expensive, so i want to ask: what is the most cost effective way to get a roughly 100x100 stud area of white to start building?

Why not just get any colour baseplate and cover with white plates and bricks? It would give the display some snow texture. Add in some grey and brown tiles for landscape effect.
