Seasider Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Hi all, after saying I wasn’t going to take part in this one we cut our time away from Home for various reasons so I’ve had some building time this morning. I’d been trying to work out 2 things either how to regulate the output from the pullback motor so get a slower release of energy or what to do with the explosive energy it gives. Late last night I had a brainwave and this is the result. ok this is only proof of concept at the moment. Update ! worked out a trigger mechanism! next stage is to refine the assembly and then see if I can make it fire something. Edited December 29, 2017 by Seasider Quote
mocbuild101 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Very nice idea! If you are able to use all the power the pullback motors have, it should be very powerful... Quote
Seasider Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 I’ve hit a problem, it’s called Torque! so yesterday I built mk2, tried to make it more structural and tried to add some flair. What I ended up with after a couple of hours was this ... the idea behind this is you pull the red lever back and the curved beams (sitting too low in this version) then hold them till release. all well and good you say ... but not so The problem is the axles going from the handle to the large 40t gears. The torque is twisting them over the 2L span from the red lift arm to the gear. I know this as if I push the black steering racks to wind up the motors I get less movement of the red lift arms for the same amount of wind. hmm ... Quote
Seasider Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 And here we have Mk3 ... and it's almost complete. Just a little tidying and finessing to do. Quote
BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Looks very nice! Some gold detailing would go a long way. Quote

Davidz90 Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Nice one! The sliding, windup motor powered part is supposed to shoot the bolt directly or move the limbs? Quote
Seasider Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 To operate you pull the light grey axle / red cranked lift arms back, they wind the motor and pull the bolt carrier back ( long steering racks). The red thin lift arms with curve holds it in place. There is then a red lift arm at the trigger underneath to release the mechanism. It’ll be clearer once I take better pics and a video Quote
Seasider Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 My final model. I shortened the area in front of the motor. Completely changed how the “bolt” trough and mechanism was and then narrowed the “wings”. I also then built a black stand for it. Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 nice i really like it, although the short end makes it like it was pushed together. if you get what i mean. Still nice work greetz TNLD Quote
mocbuild101 Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Awesome! I'm definitely going to consider voting for this... Quote
Great Ball Pit Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Another object I would not have thought of for this contest! Looking forward to a video of this in action. Quote
