legoandmars Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 I bought this on ebay a while ago - the listing claimed it was a "Starwars 30th Anniversity Lego R2D2 - One of Two in the World Released By Lego" It's glued together and seems to be a store display? It's also just a little bigger than the UCS R2D2 set. Does anybody have any info on this? I can't seem to find any. Also, it's pretty yellowed. Is there a good way to clean it without messing anything up? I would like to put the whole thing in a nice bath of hydrogen peroxide and leave it out in the sun for a while, but I'm not sure if that will mess the glue up. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Hydrogen peroxide cream 30% works really fine, and I've used it last month to retrobright my old Commodore 128, so I can say that is the correct solution (no warry about the glue in this phase). After the treatment you need to wash the robot with many cold water, so my hint about the glue is to dry the water away with compressed air in few minutes. Quote
Magmafrost Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 (edited) Im quite confident Ive seen this design in a store display. So, given that I live in Australia, I think its a fairly safe bet that there were more than two of these. Im also pretty confident that that was in 2001 or 2002, although I cant guarantee that your specific one wasn't put together for the 30th anniversary. Also, how novel to see someone here worried about the integrity of the glue. I totally understand why, but still, not something you see every day. Edited December 30, 2017 by Magmafrost Quote
