Hinckley Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 So, here is another torso I designed in Illustrator: And here he is enhanced with awesome custom pieces from Brickforge.com I already made a version 2 of this. As I was closing the file in Illustrator, I tweaked it a little. I think the changes I made are cool, but I'll show that later. For now, feedback and constructive criticisms are welcome. Thanks. :-) Quote
iamded Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) The torso looks great, a bit strange in the first pic, mainly because it's a guy in his underpants wearing armour. :-P Kind of like the armour from the 2nd (?) Exo-force wave. But with the Brickforge equipment it looks great! *y* *y* ~Peace Edited February 23, 2008 by iamded Quote
Shadows Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Not bad at all. Not my area of interest but definitely has the right look. Now he just needs a wristwatch. ;-) iamded said: ... it's a guy in his underpants wearing armour. :-P And he's openly handling his oddly round scutum. ;-) Quote

zero1312 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Cool, but he looks more like a spartan than a roman. ;-) Quote
SirNadroj Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Cool! He looks even better with the custom armor! *wub* I need to get myself some brickforged goods! X-D Quote
iamded Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 So, when were you planning on showing us version 2? :-) ~Peace Quote

Hinckley Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 I found paper and some torsos, so here is V.2: and what really makes this complete are the Brickforge accessories: Can you tell the difference? I basically made the chest armor more proportional to the rest of the torso. The first version made him seem a little weak in the pec area. I was trying to line his chest up with his biceps at first where a real human's would line up, but a mini-fig is not proportional to a human *wacko* so I like this better. i also adding some shading and, as per babyjawa's advise, switched to a clear decal to see if it looked better and I like it. I forgot to offset the white in the gradient so unfortunately it goes to clear, but I've already fixed that in the file so it won't happen again. As always, constructive criticism and feedback welcome. Thanks. :-) Quote
babyjawa Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Hehe, like the clear better, eh? :D Well...I do to. Great job on both Romans, Hinckley! Reminds me that I need to finish mine. :P Great Job! Quote
iamded Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 There we go, very nice! *y* *y* I was wondering about the change in colour, I reckon this looks better. Great job! And to Armothe, those are sweet, can't wait 'till they come out! :'-) ~Peace Quote

(It is a pilum right?) Hinckley, the figure your show is more Greek looking, but could of course act as a Roman Hoplite in the 4th century ACN. I love the face, but the torso doesn't quite look complete... TT Quote
