DeanLearner Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I’m sure a lot of people must already use minifigures from the CMF series and other themes to add a bit of extra life to their modular buildings, however I haven’t found any discussions of interesting ideas people have had. So with apparently leaked images of the latest modular suggesting a range of different faces will now be used, I thought it might be an appropriate time to come up with a few options. The below list includes a few predictable suggestions, but also a couple of slightly more surreal ways to utilise some of the CMFs that might otherwise never find a home , for example the Prospector and Leprechaun in line to make deposits at the bank, the Gingerbread Man as a classic Batman-style villain behind the cookie bootlegging industry, or the Policeman escorting the Hippy to get his hair cut. Pet Shop Pet shop Janitor (S15) Mrs Scratchen-Post (TLM) Animal control officer (S15) Dog Show Winner (S16) Townhouse Decorator (S10) Welder (S11) Carpenter (S13) Palace Cinema Hollywood Starlet (S9) Hot Dog Guy (S17) Parisian Restaurant Restaurant Waiter (S9) Connoisseur (S17) Gourmet Chef (S17) Studio Painter (S4) Detective’s office Barbers Hippy (S7) Policeman (S9) Square Foot (S14) Kitchen Detective (S5) Gingerbread man (S11) Brick Bank Bank Leprechaun (S6) Prospector (S12) Jewel Thief (S15) Laundrette Where Are My Pants Guy (TLM) Assembly Square Cafe Librarian (S10) Larry the Barista (TLM) William Shakespeare (TLM) Music shop Punk Rocker (S4) Rocker Girl (S7) Bagpiper (S7) Saxophone Player (S11) Rock Star (S12) Dance school Ballerina (S15) Florist Plant monster (S14) Bakery Gourmet Chef (S17) Dentist Prospector (S12) Diner Diner Mechanic (S6) Diner Waitress (S11) Hot Dog Guy (S17) Gym Fitness Instructor (S5) Boxer (S5) Kickboxer (S16) Dance instructor (S17) Quote
Legochaek Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 (edited) You could have the sushi chef (TLNM) in the kitchen too and someone behind the counter in the palace cinema (hot dog vendor?) clumsy guy falling down the steps in the palace cinema and some of the monsters minifigs in the film coming out of the screen. In one of them you could have the skydiver (S10) or the daredevil (S7) jumping off one of the buildings and the DJ behind the camera in the Palace Cinema. Yours is a great list . Deeks Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I had a line up of the vikings, wizard, king, queen and elves in front of my PC as a bunch of fans dressed up in cosplay for the latest movie. I also had where's my pants guy answering the door of the house side of the the PS to a hazmat guy. I've had the video game guy living in the apartment above the PS. I had the fisherman and butcher selling stuff to the chef at the back door of the PR. I've got the lady spy hiding on the roof of the bank. The gangster guy with the violin case walking the guy on crutches out of the Pool Hall. I just moved so all my modulars are boxed awaiting their new display shelf. It was a lot a of fun placing all the CMF, they really bring a lot of stories to my street. Oh! I also have group of street musicians that included a couple guitar players and the bagpipe player. jdubbs Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I ended up with 3 or 4 of the Connoisseur (S17) which will end up as waiters in my Parisian Restaurant, with the Frenchie bulldogs destined for the Pet Shop. Also ended up with two of the Gourmet Chef (S17) which fortunately came with dual facial expressions, so they will become twins running the Bakery. I know it's not a true modular, but I plan to incorporate two of the Hazmat (S4) figures into the Monster Fighters Haunted House (along with the obvious Ghostbusters characters, and all of Series 14). koalayummies Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I use the modulars as CMF storage but I just stick them anywhere there's free floor studs. But here's a few possibilities: Carpenter, Plumber, Decorator, Welder in the under-remodel townhouse of PS. Dog Show Winner, Zookeeper, Animal Control, in PS Janitor, Royal Guard, Computer Programmer, Bride, Judge, Librarian, Farmer in TH. Pharaoh, Magician, Cowboy, Forestman, Hollywood Starlet in PC. (indeed any historic or over the top costumed character) Nurse, Rapper, Punk Rocker, Flamenco Dancer, Surgeon, Rocker Girl, Techno DJ, Trendsetter, Jazz Musician, Rock Star, Ballerina, Babysitter in AS. Mime, Artist, Musketeer, Butcher, Waiter, Gourmet Chef in PR. Detective, Gangster, Lederhosen, Hippie, Bagpiper in DO. Spy, Jewel Thief, Gargoyle, Zombie Businessman, Zombie Pirate, Prospecter, Constable, Grandma in BB. Quote

Ooooo those are some really great ideas. I have some random licensed minifigures (eg Jack Sparrow) that I was planning on having as cosplay (in “flesh face”?!) outside the PC too. I particularly like the Gangster one too - I thought about a Gangster there but the crutch thing really makes it! @Deeks @jdubbs Yeah the Hazmat guy is a classic for storytelling set ups. I also got an Alien Conquest scientist and plan to use them in some sort of industrial area at some point - possibly involving a Gremlin... @koalayummies Yes I was wondering if I could get away with sticking in some (non-cosplay zombies). Maybe a job for some unfortunate paramedics? 57 minutes ago, Lego-fire said: sushi chef (TLNM) in the kitchen too I love the Sushi Chef! He’s so clearly a reference to Hatori Hanso from Kill Bill! I am hoping to someday get Ninjago City though, at which point he will have pride of place on the rooftop. I did wonder about that skydiver though - too bad his parachute doesn’t deploy... Quote
Gorki247 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 (edited) Some really good ideas here. I've got some of the same combo's mentioned here. One other ones I can think of right now Alice (Disney) at the back of the pool hall sampling some of the goods (she has a bottle and one of those bootleg cookies after all) Sleepyhead sleepwalking on top of the town house Commissioner Gordon on top of the TH with a bat signal Velma Staplebot inside TH Yeti outside of GE buying an ice cream Werewolf outside of Pet Shop stealing a bone Some other characters I have dotted around my town One of the Aliens abducting a cow The clowns, fortune teller and snake charmer at the fairground Monster characters in and around the Haunted House S3 Pilot in a hot air balloon Banana Man taunting Clumsy Guy Dick Grayson chasing away Shark Suit Guy Edited November 28, 2017 by Gorki247 Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 some good ideas. I love the classic yellow smiley so I will be sad if they change that aspect of modulars. I saw the pictures too so it's tough to say. Quote

DeanLearner Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 Yeah I don’t think people who prefer the classic smiley face have got anything to worry about. They will always be able to exchange them into any future modulars, but I know I will enjoy and appreciate a diverse and light-hearted range of faces. In the meantime, the latest photos of Downtown Diner have inspired me to stage an impromptu rooftop concert (a la the Beatles - or the Simpsons!) using my varied rabble of CMF musicians. @Gorki247 I love the idea of a cow-abducting alien! I definitely agree about the comic potential of the shark suit guy - I currently have him being chased off the beach by a lifeguard, but I’m sure that shark repellant would come in handy. Quote
