Trionx Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 Now the question is will Greg know how to design something not like Bionicle...*yoda* Greg does the storylines for most LEGO themes, I don't think that'll be a problem. :-P Quote
Dadster Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I bet its a Pirate theme. Though I have nothing to base that on, beyond the notion that a story-bible would fit with that theme.Steve Well, they do have the new sharks coming out and we have seen lots of ships lately. Maybe MegaBlocks is cutting back on their Pyrates (and PotC) Sets? Quote

Maybe MegaBlocks is cutting back on their Pyrates (and PotC) Sets? i was thinking the exact same thing. :-D X-D it is most likely a pirates or seafaring based theme. how else would you justify making a new mold? my guess is that they couldn't find the old shark mold and decided to make these new sharks. they could find the old croc mold so they just recycled them into dark green crocs. :-P Quote

blueandwhite Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Well, the only thing you can derive from this message is that there will be a theme with a storyline ala KKII, Bionicle, or Exo Force coming in the following year. Not really surprising considering the demise of Exo Force this year. I'm a bit curious as to how people jumped to the conclusion that this line would be a historical line like Ninja or Pirates. Heck, looking at the previous story-based themes, I would almost expect this to be futuristic. Space pirates anyone :-D ? Quote
xwingyoda Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Space pirates anyone :-D ? Amen brother !! Arcadia On !! *yoda* Quote
Batbrick Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 A story based theme huh? Doesn't sound too great to me, I never really liked story based thems. I mean, what else are you supposed to do with Bionicles? You can just ignore the story of course, but it still limits imagination and is annoying. Oh well, we'll see what it is, seems TLC is heading in the right direction so far. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

Mecheon Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I'd really like to see a new Wild West theme!Yes, a new Ninja theme would be cool, too - but not as combination with fantasy creatures Speak for yourself. I want some official large oriental dragons designed like the Midgar serpent, at least while I'm too low on pieces to make my own. And there's all sorts of crazy critters in Japanese mythology they could use Anyway, I've got no idea at the moment what it could be. Could be agents I guess, but that's more next year For all we know, it could be anything new that doesn't really crossover with anything in the past. I'd love an updated Rockraiders using new Exo-Force pieces though, or maybe some sort of steampunk adventure with a heck of a lot of brown vehicles and stuff *wub* Something like random people X and Y travel through giant ancient steampunk city thing to defeat Z, who is evil and plotting something Quote
Zarkan Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Usually the storyline plots out the uses of sets, and solves what would be mysteries. Like in the mars mission theme, why on earth (no pun intended) would they capture aliens and put them in them tubes? Energy? Prison? What did they do! We're invading them! From what the first game on the official Mars Mission site, as well as various bits in the lego magazine suggests, the humans went to Mars simply to look for crystals, and the aliens were the ones who made the first strike. Also, the aliens are aparently bloodthirsty, and seem to like the taste of human flesh. Thus, the humans are capturing them to protect their own lives, and possibly to see if they can find a way to stop the aliens from trying to eat them. ;-) Anyway, this sounds cool! I am really hoping for a space related theme - it would be awesome to have a multi-faction theme on the scale of Starcraft, Star Trek, and all the other pure space worlds (Starwars doesn't count, because it is really a hybrid of fantasy and space, not pure space). ;-) Quote
DarkYamiDragon Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 When I saw "story bible", my first thought was literally "Cool, Lego Camels" (the animals). :-D Lego Camels would be awesome. But anyway, I like the story themes. Sure, I never got into Bionicle, but there have been some story themes I like. Mostly a lot of the old ones. :-$ Quote

It's not gonna be Agents, oriental dragons wouldn't sell well in the US, and while I'd love an updated Rock Raiders, it can't be betterthan what it was. *sad* Steampunk might work, but it'd just be another Agents line which is why it wouldn't work. So, in your own words, speak for yourself. :-| Quote
Tarfful Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 After thinking on this and reading the whole thread my best guesses would be either Pirates, History, or Steampunk. And out of those 3 Pirates is probably the best bet. Though I wouldn't mind any of them, in fact it would be hard for me to resist collecting any of them, unless TLC really screws it up which I don't see happening. Just my 2 cents. General Tarful Quote

Tarfful Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 (edited) History *wacko* ? That's one BIG theme that will last for many, many years :-P !I also think Pirates would be the best :'-) ;-) ! I was referring to a previously discussed idea of mine from somwhere in the beginning of this topic. :-P ;-) The idea was History starting with Anchient Times and moving up a century or so every couple of years and going till right before the first World War as to not get too contriversal. On another note Pirates is indeed looking to be the most likely choice right now. General Tarful Edited March 7, 2008 by GeneralTarful Quote
natelite Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 my money is on either pirates or space. *y* :-) and guys...please be civil about disagreeing. ;-) Quote

goggleson Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Are they even allowed to do Bible-based products? Woudnt that be somewhat contriversial? 8-| Dp8 THEY CAN'T CLOSE DOWN LEGO BIBLE! the enigma that is badger Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I'll add my crossed-fingers to the hopes this means a return to TLC Pirate sets. The statement is vague enough it could mean anything, but considering TLC has really gone back to its roots recently, here's hoping a continuing love and interest in Pirate sets has convinced the company the revisit that theme in some form. badger Quote

hamilton Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Mr GF is referring to the upcoming Agents line. That is the character based theme Lego will be producing with for the foreseeable future. Quote
Mirandir Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Mr GF is referring to the upcoming Agents line. That is the character based theme Lego will be producing with for the foreseeable future. I was also thinking of agents line at first. But this seems like a fairly recent statement from GF and Agents are coming this fall, if I remember correctly. Most likely it's some kind of replacement for Exo-Force. So I'm thinking/hoping it's some kind of sci-fi theme. But thats just guessing. We'll just have to wait and see. Just what is "steampunk"? I've seen folks use that nomenclature. Is it really popular enough to support a line? Steampunk is basicly 19th century science fiction. In other words hightechnology driven mainly by steam and some electricity rather than electricity alone. works of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne can be classified as steampunk. Quote
Pencoin Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 it sounds good to me as i prefer stroy based lines rather then good guy vs bad guy vehicle line (mm,batman, castle) its probaly because of the death of exo force *sweet* Quote
