So, from left to right, we have the 0-4-4-0T mallet, with whistle and lights attached. Next, we have an 0-6-2T which has the driving wheels of the Emerald night set. In the middle is a diesel locomotive which I affectionately call the Iron Workhorse. That one has got two 9v motors. Sadly, the rail connectors frayed, so it's gonna take a while till I get around to replacing them with the Power functions motors. Next to the Iron Workhorse, we have a dual cab diesel. using tannoy pieces as the horn. And this also has two 9v motors. (Me thinks 4 PF motors are going to be needed here.) And last, we have the GE 44 Tonner variant. This, ladies and gents, is what happens when imagination kicks in.

This is pretty sadly a common problem with many years of 9v wiring. We've been able to rewire some of the regular connectors, so it may be possible to rewire the track connectors as well. Haven't tried yet, though.

Another solution is simply to solder a set of leads onto one piece of track and wire the other ends up to one of regular connectors. This is what our club does for 9v layouts and it's fairly robust.
