I'm interested in seeing where this goes. I agree, time dilation is spooky, though I think Shwartz is right to be more afraid of Valkyrie at the moment.

It's awesome to have you back, Batbrick. I hope things are okay in your world. I greatly missed your always insightful comments!

In the outline I have of the comic's overall story, there's a story titled (provisionally) "How Schwartz Got the Gamma-V." So, I think that answers your question. :-) The audiobook I did awhile back touched on the topic, but I called his ship the UV-9 in that story because I wanted to remove any actual LEGO names.

THanks KDog, great to be back, things are much better at the moment thanks.

Ah yes, I'll have t download that again, it was saved to my old computer, and looking forward ot that story too. One overall note I'll make about the 50 or so comics I had not read before when I did that big read through is that I like that various story arcs are getting on the move agsin, after a bit of a slower period. I also understand your frustrations mentioned in some of the notes about the comic being restricted by its medium, but I think its generally more that the ones that went outside that Lego medium were largely just for parodies and references. The strip where Shwartz recalls that trippy foreshadowing dream during Date Night worked excellently because it blended drawings and photos as part of the story.

EDIT: Heh, I use the "Screwed with a capital F" line in daily conversation now.

I'm thinking of putting it on a t-shirt.

Who's that Johnny-Come-Lately? Huh. :hmpf_bad::laugh:

Looked a bit like she was being interviewed in a sound booth in one shot.

You see what that's all about in the next comic. It was originally going to be part of this one, but the whole thing was too long.

Heck, I'd buy it. Probably twice.

Anyway, love the new comics KDog, if it weren't for this darned sanity of mine I'd be all for forcing you at Lego gun point to churn them out quicker. But the quality of your comics over time and even recently has not just remained great, its gotten even better. I was astonished when I did that reading through the entire comic recently just how much of a marked improvement there was across the whole thing, particularly in the framing of shots, selection of panel layouts, and how characters became, and continue to be, defined.

Getting back to current pages, I like how Schwartz and Valkyrie's relationship has evolved to the point that she's genuinely miffed in her own way about him not calling her. The detail about her need to steal things in order to satisfy her own urges and maintain the status quo she's comfortable is something I've become aware of over time, though not quite to the depth you've put it in that last strip. I think of this comic as being much like one of my favourite comedies Parks and Recreation (not sure if you've seen it) in that the jokes aren't just funny, they actually explain a lot about the characters and how they approach life, as well as often giving a genuine warmth to them and by extension the comic/show.

Would you be open to the idea of a guest comic? I've sketched out an idea I'd like to do for a non-canon strip now that I have several of the characters sitting in front of me on this desk. Perfectly okay if no, just thought I'd give it a shot. Regaardless, I eagerly await the next update!

Yeah come on, I've been waiting to find out what happened to that missing week! :sweet:

I haven't seen the Simpsons episode, but my Aunty was saying the other day pretty much the same thing - you can get all this specific specialised stuff but it's fairly difficult to find a box of generic parts or plain bricks. My response was that it's there, but it doesn't sell like the other stuff so you have to look harder to find it.

I'm gonna have to get to work on that shirt :-)

I wish I could post more comics, but I'm working hard to stick to two comics a week, which is do-able for me. I definitely have consciously worked to further define the characters. I think the framing and layout is more something that just developed over time. Having the humor compared to Parks & Rec is a compliment indeed! Great show.

I'd love to have a guest comic from you, Batbrick! It would be neat to see your take on the characters.

Thanks again!

They probably were referring to actual boxes of plain bricks instead of unlicensed sets, but when was the last time those were available in any sort of quantity? The 1970s? How out of touch are The Simpsons' writers? LOL

I think I know waht's going to happen next.

If you really did have it guessed, I would be shocked. Let me know after the next comic. :)

Well, I have no idea what's going to happen next, though I am greatly intrigued, and curious whether this will tie into the Alien arc.

Do it!

No worries, I'm only joking if you thought I was half-serious. I cannot stand the attitude that an artist 'owes' their fans, people have a lot of their own business that comes first, I remember the big fan whining when George R Martin said his next Song of Ice and Fire book would be a few years off. Ugh, he made the product guys!

I think a dangerous line to skirt in long running comedy is how a character's attributes the fans love or are particularly memorable come to be the only defining feature, to the point a character like JD in Scrubs season 7 is a caricature of the JD of season 1. One of my favourite aspects here is that the characters actually show more layers as they go on. The only one I was concerned about for a while was Shwartz, where it seemed the focus became less and less about his job and more and more about his slackitude, which for a time I felt was going to go over the top. Thankfully, that's been reeled in quite a bit recently, from more work related plots to a few reminders that he does his job well when applied. Sorry, I don't want to criticise, I hope I'm not coming off that way, your comic usually belts it out of the park I feel it would be a disservice not to point out the occasional gripes.

Wow! Thanks a heap! I will definitely try to get onto it soon. Greatly appreciated! :)

I didn't mean you couldn't get them at all. But sets depicting specific designs have been the majority of LEGO products for decades.
