Jenny, Jenny, Jenny. You've let a criminal that can't be trusted know your plans, you've double-crossed them, and then left them behind to dob you in to the Space Police.

Should've taken Jawson with her? Risky, but which of the 2 "evils" is the lesser?

She did break the intercom, so without being able to tell anybody about it, there's little Jawson can do about it.

Sorry KDog, so late at this point! But fortunately exams are over now and I've handed in my due assignments so I should be posting a bit more regularly now!

Anyhoo, my usual reviews:

Part 6: Yay! You got the Space Police III base, sweet job! Presumably the Space Police III theme is the more advanced, high-profile part of the organisation? Sort of like the FBI to the regular police and what-not? Interesting to get a bit more on Jenny's character here, I wonder how that ties into Shwartz's freakin' scary dream he had. And what a twist!

Part 7: Ooh, Squidman is a genius, I like how you manage to incorporate so many different space themes into this comic. I know I say this so often, but it is really clever. But...what's the Galanos Vortex? Do we know that yet?

Part 8: Something will go wrong, I can sense it. Also I read you're comments accidentally. Interesting Mysterious Jenny's mysterious motives remain mysterious, providing a compelling mystery  Nice detail on having the lighting be brighter when the pod opens too.

Part 9: Hahaha! Jenny is just genre savvy enough to not let Jawson help, but just genre blind enough to let Squidman get away (Sorry, I just love linking to TV Tropes  ). Also, you seem to have a cruel writing style :p

Also KDog, did you get around to finishing that DACTA base?

Batbrick Away!

At least for a time. They'll have to open his pod at some point, then the beans will go *insert onomatopoeia for beans being spilled*

KDog, do you have any photos of Jenny's Star Justice ship uploaded anywhere? It's an interesting design and I'd like to get a closer look at the details.

I have photos of the ship and put together a montage that I posted as an MOC here once, but the image was on my old Web site and therefore no longer exists online. Later I'll repost it somewhere so you can see it.

I made the Peacemaker in LDD, which resulted in a few issues with the design that I didn't know about until I put the ship together in person. It has a a few structural weak points (like the upper back wall being separate from the side walls), which I do plan to fix. But I do love the way it currently looks and I've already featured it in the comic, so I probably won't fix it until I'm done with it in the comic, in case its appearance has to change a little to fix it.

Space Police III is simply the future version of the regular Space Police. Maybe I didn't make it clear enough that this story is taking place many years after the current storyline. (It says "Decades Later" in Part 1.) Star Justice is more like the FBI or federal marshals.

But...what's the Galanos Vortex? Do we know that yet?

I know, but no-one else does yet. ;-D It was mentioned once before in a previous standalone comic (Go hunt for it!), and Squidman said basically what it was in this storyline. I know I tend to throw out a lot of important details in dialogue, and they sometimes get lost in the shuffle.

Nice detail on having the lighting be brighter when the pod opens too.

Fun with flashlights!

I love reading your links to TV Tropes. It's a helpful site for a writer!

Short answer: No.

Long answer: I sat down a few months back and forced myself to really map out the direction of the comic's story. I had plenty of ideas jotted down, but not in a distinct order. Seeing as I'd like to complete the story some day, I arranged and re-arranged all my ideas for various plotlines. The DACTA base still plays a big part in one plot, but it's one that takes place near the end of the comic's overall story. Because of that, I'll get to the building the base closer to when I need it. Otherwise, it just will take up space in my room for a long time.

BTW, that reminds me. Are you still doing that Batman comic? I'd like to see that. Unfortunately, I've noticed that the price of Batman sets and figures has gone through the roof since they were discontinued.

Meh. I just hope the Racer X helmets don't triple in price after this. It looks... perfect. Man I actually freaked out when I saw that and thought you must have used a decal or something.

I've yet to post in this thread, but IMO, Lego: Space is one of the best, if not the best, Lego comics around. The plot is hilarious and it never gets boring. I've been following it for almost a year already, and I anticipate every episode with much enthusiasm.

Keep it up, KDog!

As soon as I first saw the Racer X minifig a couple years ago, I thought, "BLACKTRON." The figure by itself could work, but combined with the Blacktron torso and the legs it comes with, it's a nice get-up. I'd be surprised if I was the first one to use the Racer X helmet for Blacktron, though. Also, my little comic isn't enough to drive up the price of anything, is it?

Much appreciated, Lockon Stratos! And I'm very flattered to be placed high alongside some of the great LEGO comics out there. It's also always cool when a longtime reader posts a first comment. It reminds me that there are probably more readers than I realize.

I've got no excuse this time, so I must commit to the only honourable action:

D'Awwwww! Thanks!

D'oh! I completely forgot about that. I love the way you've thought this out. I love that in the future Blacktron has become such a more shadowy organisation, it seems that it rebounded from its "legitimate" stage and evolved into a full-on Chessmaster group, manipulating behind the scenes. Gives me goosebumps the concept is so cool.

I know, but no-one else does yet. ;-D It was mentioned once before in a previous standalone comic (Go hunt for it!), and Squidman said basically what it was in this storyline. I know I tend to throw out a lot of important details in dialogue, and they sometimes get lost in the shuffle.

I'll hunt for it when I read the comic through on its next achievement, it'll be a nightmare to find!

Cool, it is a great site and certainly helped improve my writing. The important thing to remember is that tropes aren't necessarily cliches, and even if they are they can provide plenty of examples that are clever spins on them.

Interesting, glad to know you plan to build it though, I know one poster didn't like them, but I think DACTA is one of the smartest parts of the comic because they are so useful for so many plotlines (fourth-wall jokes, explaining separated comics, infodumps, plotlines with Dash etc).

BTW, that reminds me. Are you still doing that Batman comic? I'd like to see that. Unfortunately, I've noticed that the price of Batman sets and figures has gone through the roof since they were discontinued.

Thanks very much. Yes I do still plan on doing the comic though who knows how long it would take, the problem is the amount of sets required and how I'd probably do each major arc and THEN post it, since I would be the most irregular comic poster. I've got all the Batman sets so that doesn't worry me.

Basically, I'm planning sort of like a TV show, in the sense that there are 5 "seasons" of varying lengths I've totally planned out. I've also mapped out the personalities and arcs of the various characters that appear. So planning wise I'm pretty good at, its just getting to the point where I have enough backdrops and sets that I can produce it without worrying, since Batman would require more specific locations than Space, while that requires more vehicles than Batman. It's planned to be quite serious in nature, in that while there is of course humour (and it won't be as serious as The Dark Knight) there will be deaths and proper storylines and such. I wasn't convinced I could do it with Lego, but the way you've managed to have such emotional segments, especially that freaking scary Dash one, I'm convinced its possible. And I'd break up the storyline with the occasional joke strip as well. But I'm definitely hopeful of getting it done, thanks for asking :classic:

Anyhow, fantastic new comics:

Part 10: I love how this is going. Nice use of greyscale too, have you done that much before? Either way, it's a nice, simple way of depicting flashbacks.

Part 11: I love the way this one is shot! How did you do the first panel with the planet? Laptop. Either way this one is really inventive in its setting, I really enjoy spotting little signs of how the comic improves technically from its beginnings. Excellent cameos here, I love that Raven's Port Bar remains a hive of scum and villainy, more so in fact. And a great development on the Blacktron legacy, the Supreme Pirate is very nice. And a twist!

Part 12: Captain Dash is a firni' his lazer! Great development here, I wonder if that lineage line is a hint at something. Seems Jenny is far more sinister than I initially thought, even with the whole skull thing.

Batbrick Away!
