Piranha Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) Now for an authority and expert on Jungle making to speak :-P ;-) To make a good Jungle: - Palm Trees (the most jungly thing out there ;-) ) - Remove the Spruce and cypress trees(they don't tend to grow in tropical rain forests :-D ) - Palm leaves( again very easy to make things look jungly) - Bushes are very good too, adds to foliage - Bamboo shoot leaves are also really good too - These are great too - Some of these are also useful - In the jungle there are lots of rocks covered in moss so - Using Round 1x1 in green or brown with those bamboo leaves also has a nice effect - As already mentioned truck wrecks in the jungle are cool too - The Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones ride as Disneyland, CA all have very nice jungly scenery( the use of those crates to create a camp site are good too) -Lastly make some brick built ferns since they are abundant in rainforest's -That will make your jungle more jungly(not sure if that is even a real word :-P ) Hope I helped :-) P Edited February 23, 2008 by Piranha Quote

I think they do work to add many different types of trees to the jungle (as someone else mentioned). Have you tried building a jungle Piranha? Quote

I didn't like them mainly because they aren't jungle accurate, but hey if you aren't concerned about that, add some more X-D Yes I did build a jungle once, for a Jurassic Park MOC I have a real problem with jungles since once you get one packed with foliage its hard to place figs and other stuff inside them, Usually the brick built plants all break and then rebuilding occurs........ I did forget to mention that the Indy 4 sets have some excellent ideas for trees and stuff(the jungle cutter and river boat sets specifically) 8- Quote

Piranha Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Did you snap any pictures? I'd love to see it if so.Definately. I love the Tree Tower set (for lack of a better name). I already have the perfect spot for it. Any idea when they'll be out? That JP MOC was part of the Raptor Cage I built about 2 years ago, sadly no pictures remain :-( I have been wanting to build one again though The Indy 4 sets are available in May *sweet* P Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 The Indy 4 sets are available in May *sweet* Excellent! I can't wait. *sweet* I'm going to leave my jungle display up until then. I may in fact cover it with a sheet to keep off the dust. I've pretty much ran out of green, but I don't want to start pulling all of the smaller foliage pieces from every set that I have. It would make trying to return all of them to the right box very difficult. Quote

A sheet is a good idea too, though you may want to peek at your work every so often ;-) . One last idea from me, since you've used up your foliage, I think your jungle needs one more thing. Animals. Thats right, we need to populate this jungle sir. I think those snakes from The Lost Tomb will be useful for scattering them around the display, maybe add a few more spider webs if you have any. Put some bats sleeping upside down in a tree if you can, maybe a few trained horses tide to a tree. Just a last couple of suggestions, but I think some wildlife could really fill in those empty spaces. Hope that helps! Batbrick Away! >:-) Edited February 23, 2008 by Batbrick Quote

I was playing with the 5-bunch of green snakes from the Lost Tomb earlier trying to hang them from trees. It just didn't work though, so I may try scattering the total of 10 snakes around the jungle. I've got the white horse from Indy's chase set, and I'm sure I can find a few more spider webs. Thanks again. I picked up Creator set 4916 (mini animals) today just for the two palms within - can you believe it, just for two palm leaves. I can't wait for my Pick-A-Brick order to come in. I really appreciate all the great suggestions. *y* Quote
