Ayrlego Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) Jameston is quickly developing into the Corlander commercial hub of the paradise isles. As such, the East Terran Trade Company (ETTC) is naturally investing heavily. ETTC representatives have recently come to an agreement with Colonial Governor Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock where the ETTC will assist providing defence to the young colony. Part of the arrangement involves the stationing of a company of ETTC Sepoys in the settlement. Big men from the Mokolei States, these warriors have been retrained to fight with the latest Corlander tactics and equipment. Their fierce loyalty is further guaranteed by the terms of their contract. When signing up they are allowed to bring any immediate family members to the colonies and are awarded Corlander citizenship and a land grant in the colonies after 15 years service. ------ A quick build to allow the ETTC to raise some troops in Jameston. Will be licensed as a small residence (barracks). Full credit for the palm three trunk design goes to Mark here. Edited October 10, 2017 by Ayrlego Quote
Mesabi Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 As usual, fantastic @Ayrlego The tree is fantastic. And I like your Mokolei warriors. Quote
Professor Thaum Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 The gun is very cool, so is the tree out of colonial hats () those minifig are great too (the torso fits well with the others parts even if it was not orginally designed for) Why is the ground under the "colonial tree" not clipped ? is a MOUS about to going out of the ground ? Maxim I Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Lovely soldiers! The tree really finishes the build :) great job! Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 You've already jumped on that palm tree technique! It looks great here, and the tan bricks go well with the white wall. Such a lovely collection of those turbans/legs/epaulets, too! Quote

Capt Wolf Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Great fig design for the Sepoys (including the leader's sword -- nice touch)! Fine build, with your classic look. But it is the tree that steals the scene. Even if it is not of your design, great execution! Quote
Elostirion Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Wonderful scene. My favourite part is the perfect usage of tan brickwall-bricks for the wall, just looking so good. The palmtree design is fantastic as well, and the soldiers are really cool - both in idea and execution. Very nice attachment of the flag as well, and great presentation as we are used to from you! :-) Quote
Lord Buckethead Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 I really love this build, I can't believe I missed it, sure got pushed back a few pages quite quickly. The palm tree design is amazing, even if it isn't yours and the building is very nice. It's also nice to see the sepoys getting some attention, from both you and Bregir, they're a very unique type of troop and there's something exotic about them that just leaves me in awe every time I see them, must be the moustaches! blackdeathgr Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Sleak and elegant MOC as always! I am always glad to see some variety inside our main faction troops. Quote

Such a lovely collection of those turbans/legs/epaulets, too! Yeah, as soon as I saw it I was like, oh I just ordered 15 dark tan pith helmets.... A warning though, It's way trickier than it looks. At first I tried using 1x1 round plates in-between each helmet. It looked ok but the finished trunk couldn't take any weight on top. It barely could hold itself up! With just the helmets connecting to each other it is a little better, but it is still probably the most fragile tree I have ever made. I had a much better leaf design, but the trunk just couldn't hold the weight up... The new ninjago sword is pretty cool - my son is very disappointed I haven't been able to find him one yet and that I wouldn't give this one up!! I need to spend a bit more time next time to do the scheme justice - this build was really rushed for the MRCA deadline! 23 hours ago, Lord Buckethead said: I really love this build, I can't believe I missed it, sure got pushed back a few pages quite quickly. Thanks Lord B and yeah, things got a bit hectic there for a bit, I'm still catching up! Speaking of the Sepoys.... Allcock has heard rumours that in the Southern states of the Mokolei Empire elephants are used extensively in agriculture and construction. If your expedition is heading that way maybe he should write to you and request details... and maybe the arrangement of the shipment of a breeding pair for Jameston! 14 hours ago, blackdeathgr said: Sleak and elegant MOC as always!
