Ayrlego Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 After leaving Myzectlan, Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock and retinue made hast back through the jungles of Cascadia to the Corrish settlement of Camp Isaac. On arriving Sir Dirk rushed straight to the Royal Post office to seek news from the world outside of Cascadia. Although there were a number of letters for the Colonial Governor, the Post Master confirmed there was still no world from Don Isaac Montoya, last seen departing for diplomatic talks at the Sea Rat settlement of Tortuga. Camp Isaac, named after Don Montoya himself, was founded primarily as a base of operations for scientific research expeditions exploring Cascadia. Indeed it was from Camp Isaac that the expedition which discovered the lost city of the Myzec departed. The settlement is starting to slowly grow with more permanent buildings such as the offices of the Royal Post. Although a new structure, the Royal Society, who manages the Camp Isaac has decreed that developments must have as little impact on the natural surroundings as possible, hence the somewhat overgrown feel to the settlement. ------ An additional angle of the build especially for the good Count Mesabi, but alas no interior this time! Will be licensed as a medium commerce for Camp Isaac. Quote
Maxim I Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Awesome job as always! Those fences are fantastic, just like the water and all those other details! Quote
Professor Thaum Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) A really nice built one more time Did you use some old and damaged parts, or did you scratch/cut them by yourself ? I like the foliage covering of the house... like entrapping vine the lantern is well thought !! Edited October 3, 2017 by Professor Thaum Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Great build Ayrlego, I love the idea of a jungle PO! The stilts effect is really cool, and great work on the jungle flora! I really like the round window above the porch roof, too. And as I said on Flickr, interesting use of broken tiles... I have a few of those myself, so I'll have to keep that in mind! Quote
Spud The Viking Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 So beautiful, it almost looks rendered. A fine post office indeed. Quote
Kwatchi Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I can't recall a post office being represented yet in BoBS (I may be wrong), so congratulations to Corrington on being the first to establish a viable messaging system. The build itself is very well done and that water made me envious of all the clear & non-clouded clear bricks you won.. The fact you seamlessly incorporated BURPS into the MOCs (under all that foliage) made me smile. Quote
Bodi Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Very nice build! The red-brown and dark-brown work well to reproduce the rotten wood commonly seen in tropical jungle. 1 hour ago, Professor Thaum said: Did you use some old and damaged parts, or did you scratch/cut them by yourself ? Damaged parts I believe, these tiles break easily, especially when you parts separator. Quote
Kodan Black Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Love the detailing of the rocks under the water! The building itself is perfectly jungle-chic! You can feel the humidity. Love the uneven tile roof and the lovely porch. Only tiny tweak I might suggest is a rope or chain to tie the boat up to the dock, or at least a cleat of some kind. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Very cool build! I love the unsettled tile technique on the roof, and you've done a great job of using various colors and pieces for the jungle vegetation. And the general design of the structure half on stilts, half on the rock bank is well done. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 You have outdone Tia Dalma's shack!!! One more great moc of you (as usual ) Quote
Mesabi Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Once again, gorgeous build. The water is fantastic, as well as all the detailing. The lamp is beautiful, and the use of damaged parts is ingenious. But I got to fault you for not putting an interior on her, this one would have been perfect for a small interior on the back. Quote
Garmadon Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Some excellent woodwork here, Ayrlego, and great setting with the jungle overgrowth and water there! I'm especially liking the use of trans-clear bricks instead of just plates to convey the idea of shallow water and to get a bit more of an underwater view - I'll have to remember that! I've seen that design before, but I'm really digging that lantern all the same! Quote
