andrepinto Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) The Vasco da Gama Tower is a 140 m high structure tower at the top [1], built next to the Tagus River, in Parque das Nações, in Lisbon, for EXPO'98, the 1998 World Expo. It was designed by SOM and Profabril (with architecture by Nick Jacobs and Leonor Janeiro, and structures by Nuno Costa), and built by Somague (with direction by Luís Ferreira). The construction at the top of the tower during the exhibition was a luxury restaurant with a panoramic view of the Tagus river. Since November 2012, the Tower has been operating as a luxury hotel chain SANA Hotels, adding to the initial set a building whose construction began in August 2009. It one of the tallest skyscraper building in Portugal.
