Batbrick Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I couldn't see any other topic about this, but if it must be closed or merged, then my apologies. I'm really excited about the Dark Knight, so when I heard that Bruce Timm, maker of the brilliant Batman: The Animated Series was making an anime tie in with the movie, I couldn't be more happy. Now I'm not a huge fan of anime, but the very little I have seen I really liked, and I'm open to different, exciting mediums. A bit of making-of footage has been released about this exciting six part series, which is looking great with the intro of Manbat, Killer Croc and Deadshot. Anyhoo, here ya go: http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6798 Enjoy, I certainly did! ;-) Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

Vader Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Ahhh yes the new batman cartoon movie, it's done in the same style as DC's last 2 cartoon movies, Superman/Doomsday and Justice League The New Frontier. Both we're good so i'm hoping that the batman one will be also. Quote

Actually its a completely different style to Superman: Doomsday, but by Bruce Timm still, so it should be good, I really enjoyed that film. I'll definitely purchase this if it turns out as good as his other work, the look of Gotham is beautiful and Deadshot looks fantastic. Thats why I love Batman so much, he fits into so many different mediums. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Dadster Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Looks good and thanks for the link! Looks decent, but I'd rather have more Bats Lego product!! :-D Quote

It's so much better when these kind of cartoons are allowed to be abit more risky with their content. Quote
Shadows Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Cool find Batbrick, thanks for sharing it. *y* I think this offers a lot of promise. Shadows Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well it sure makes him more believable, much better than most who have that heroic code of honor :-| I agree completely. I like a hero who could possibly be just as psychotic as the villians he fights. Someone who has been there and back. I think that makes it a lot more real, and adds that constant struggle to the mix. It's why I never could stand Superman. That and the tights. :-D Quote

Ah yes I see, I'm glad to see that too. Superman: Doomsday shocked me quite a bit in a few places, it was pretty risky as you say, especially with a certain Toyman ;-) I hope to see some great dark scenes in this. Well it sure makes him more believable, much better than most who have that heroic code of honor :-| It why he's by far my favourite hero, his code of honour still exists, but he'll sure bloody someone up bfore he's finished with them, if he's angry enough. I agree completely. I like a hero who could possibly be just as psychotic as the villians he fights. Someone who has been there and back. I think that makes it a lot more real, and adds that constant struggle to the mix. It's why I never could stand Superman. That and the tights. :-D In many interpretations Batman IS psychotic, and some comic books and novels go out of their way of showing this, The Killing Joke was a good example, it showed that the Joker and Batman both became who they were as a result of "one bad day", but Bats just managed to cling onto the edge of insanity, without falling all the way into it. Oh, and the fact he doesn't wear tights is good. And the brooding, who else can look so dark and badass just standing on the edge of a building? On a note regarding the actual anime, the fight scenes between Deadshot and Bats looks amazing! 8- Edited February 15, 2008 by Batbrick Quote

Batbrick Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Arkham Asylum is another, showing Bats to be perhaps on a similar level with the psychotic killers he puts in there.Anyway, as for this, I'm not too sure. Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, but not beibng an anime fan I'm not too sure on some of the looks. Still, Deadshot looks pretty cool, as do the different versions of Gotham, and the 'bridge' idea is always a good one. I think I'll wait and see. Yes, Miller's ( X-D , okay, its Morrison's) Arkham Asylum : A serious excetera did show quite a bit of that. I'm surprised you are a bit skeptical of the looks, seeing as you tend to accept the new look of the Joker and changes in TDK, but each to his own. I like most of it, granted some look a bit off to me, namely Killer Croc in certain shots, though I like that they are playing as more of a freak and loner in it. I love Deadshot though, and as you say Gotham looks, to me atleast, fantastic. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

Yeah, I am normally more open-minded with regards reinterpretations, but I'm just not sure here. Guess I'm an enigma wrapped in a riddle... Quote
