papataz Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) First of all, I apologize to the mods if I have posted this in the wrong part of the forum, but since these sets seemed rather... City- ish... my guess was this is the place to post them. Once again, sorry if I posted at the wrong place! So! While it's rather easy for me to find names and pictures for the original counterparts of most Enlighten bootleg sets, I'm drawing a blank on these two. The first one represents a small plane, I'm guessing for some sort of VIP, since the soldier (?) minifig seems to be greeting someone important and welcoming him to the plane, judging by the boxart (slick on the pic to see larger version): Here's the back of the box: The other one seems to be some sort of rescue team: Sadly, my camera is out of batteries at the moment. I could post some low - quality pictures taken with my phone, if anyone's interested. Though, there's not much need for that - unlike most Enlighten sets I have seen, what's inside the box is exactly the same as the stuff pictured. So, if those are copied from original sets, could someone point me to pictures of the originals? Thanks! :-) Edit: here's a few more. One of them is a Castle knockoff: These two seem to be heavily inspired by Exo Force: Then there's this repair shop: and another example of the infamous military line: Edited February 14, 2008 by papataz Quote
Hinckley Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Since these aren't LEGO I'll move this to community. What exactly are you asking? Are they original Enlighten designs? Of course they are not. Companies throughout the world re-manufacture LEGO sets and put their logo on it. It's unfortunate and evil, but true. Lucky, there are people like you out there that can tell the difference and know the best quality comes from LEGO! Welcome to Eurobricks. Make sure and introduce yourself in the Hello! My name is... forum. *sweet* Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 At least those two last ones are pathetic rip-offs.. :-X Here are the instructions to the original LEGO set. ;-) Welcome. :-) Quote

Yes, I was curious if these were original designs since it seems to me that bootleggers have started going beyond just copying LEGO sets. Welcome to Eurobricks. Section8 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I would get the first set if Lego decided to make it. It's pretty slick. Hey, if these low-life companies can rip-off TLC's designs, why can't the reverse happen? Quote

Hey, if these low-life companies can rip-off TLC's designs, why can't the reverse happen? Be careful what you wish for... Here's a link to a bigger picture. Anyway, while the Enlighten plane could technically be considered original it still has nearly the same exact feel of the old Lego planes, not to mention that a lot of the pieces in that set are identical copies of specialized lego parts. They have also done a military line in a somewhat similar fashion. But please, for the love of all that is holy, don't buy this crap. *n* Quote
voltio Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 My eyes are permanently damaged! The above "train" is pure :-X. It looks as though someone with no previous knowledge of construction toys designed it. Still, I have to concur that the first Enlighten Brick design is pretty nice. I too would buy it if it were a TLC design. It looks like a pastiche of classic 1980s and 1990s Lego planes. Quote
papataz Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 Thanks for your replies, everyone! I have updated the first post with several more scans. Quote
Barbossa Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Here's the back of the box: Funny, on the back side of the box the jet engines are reversed. I believe this plan also can fly backwards :-P Sorry for the OT. Quote
Christian Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 ...and another example of the infamous military line: I own that truck and a battleship, both of which I've bought on a trip to the Czech Republic. The quality is rather bad, but I've seen worse. I only bought it because I wanted to check the quality. I also own two other small sets from other copy brands, that my father bought in Russia. He just did it to tease me, as he know how much I hate ripoffs such as megabloks :-) Quote

You're absolutely correct; it's just that lego hasn't made a plane of that scale and caliber in a long time. I am really hoping for new ones; the old ones are expensive on the secondary market. And I won't be buying the Enlighten sets or any other knock-offs, I'm a pretty big purist. Quote
