Didumos69 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Looking very cool! If you make better photos, please make sure there's no computer screen in the background. Now we want to see a video. Quote

In case the fuel tank is empty, or engine malfunction, the car will be powered by the hamster wheels! The race has to be finished! Hi kodlovag, I really like the design and it is wacky enough in my opinion (without hamsters) - I can see it on the podium If you really need to improve wackiness - what about some custom stickers (as the contest rules allow this) that work like this: Of course you could find something "wackier"... kodlovag Posted October 5, 2017 Author Posted October 5, 2017 (edited) Good idea! What about this one? My design. It could be applied on the side black panel next to the front wheel. If I'm lucky, I can print it tomorrow at the company. I hope there is black labeling cartridge in stock. Rollover_06B by Zsolt Nagy, on Flickr Edited October 5, 2017 by kodlovag Quote

kodlovag Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 5 hours ago, Aventador2004 said: Awesome design! do you work for a graphics company? No, I'm working for a display developer company. Optics, electronics, mechanics, software solutions. I'm working on optics, as a development engineer. Display and graphics seems closely related, but not in our case. I remembered a book, probably Angels and demons by Dan Brown, where I saw interesting texts, which could be read upside down too. I searched the internet, and first I learned that it is called ambigram, then I learned how to create one. Next I have to find a good word, which results in a nice looking, easily readable ambigram. I checked software solutions on the internet, and tried different words related to my build. Rollover worked best, Wacky wheels was the second option, but I didn't like the font types, because it was hard to read them. So I designed my own ambigram, and used the word rollover, because it was way easier to realize it, than the other. As I have no ambigram software, I used MS paint, and edited some sample fonts pixel by pixel. My favorite detail is the ll -> V transition, which is totally my own design, and is not based on sample fonts. Quote
Aventador2004 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Thanks for the answer, that sounds like a cool job! Your car is looking awesome too! Quote
kodlovag Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 Sticker is printed! White text on black base. Not an original Lego quality sticker, resolution should be a bit better, but not bad at all. Text is 7 mm high and approx 30 long (1 x 4 studs), so it will nicely fit on the side panel. Quote
kodlovag Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) I created my first video ever. Edited October 10, 2017 by kodlovag Testing how to insert a video Quote
Aventador2004 Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I think you have my vote! I love how you crammed in all those functions! Quote
agrof Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Great to see it in real build, and more important thing to appretiate, that it works flawless. Great job! Quote
Didumos69 Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Truely amazing! I'm impressed how your digital ideas work out in real life. You have my vote too! Quote
Leonard Goldstein Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Great!!! I had to watch the video at least three times ... All my best wishes for the contest Leonard Goldstein Quote
Boulderer Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Impressive design and only truly able to appreciate it now it's been demonstrated in the video. Bravo ? Quote
Lipko Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 You have my vote too, and I love that the wacky function isn't about harming the other racers. Quote
Didumos69 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 As a fan of this build I made a short 'The Making of'-video to give you some video inspiration. I uploaded as 'unlisted' because I don't want to get credits for your work. I hope you don't mind (if you do, I'll remove it). Quote

I spent 3 hours on my video starting from installing the editor until linked in to the forum. Not too much. I made my video just because it's mandatory. And of course, thank you for the video, I'm happy to keep it . I wanted to submit The Unrollable to the entry topic today. Now I see I should improve my video, but I just don't have time until Monday, I planned other things. I gonna see... By the way, which video editor do you use? Quote

It's very easy to use and gives very nice results. I only discovered the site / tool the other day. It offers a full-featured trial period during which you can cancel your account without any costs. I plan to cancel before the trial period ends. One thing I have learned when it comes to making videos is that it is not necessary to capture everything in one uninterrupted video. You can also compile a nice video from many loose ends. Here you can find the cropped images I used (scraped from this topic): https://bricksafe.com/pages/Didumos/the-making-of-the-unrollable Good luck! Edited October 11, 2017 by Didumos69 Quote

kodlovag Posted October 15, 2017 Author Posted October 15, 2017 A better video cut. At least I hope it's better Quote
mocbuild101 Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 My final thoughts: + great design, dual color scheme, "Rollover" function works very well. - some parts of the structure are a bit empty. Good luck! Quote
