MovieMocs Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 (edited) Hello everyone! I am MovieMocs and I am new to the forums but I would like to share some of my favourite mocs I've created and I'd love some feedback to help make me a better builder. The first moc I will be posting is this one. A 3-D map of middle earth. It features these famous landmarks: Barad Dur Mt. Doom Minas Tirith Helm’s Deep The Iron Hills The Lonely Mountain/Smaug Laketown Mirkwood/Spiders High Pass Rivendell Weathertop Gandalf’s Fireworks Hobbit Hole Dol Guldur Please leave as much feedback as possible. Thanks so much! Edited July 23, 2017 by MovieMocs Quote
J P Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 (edited) Wow! So well done! I really like the way you designed and built each individual place, and the compass and title are great. Constructive Criticism: Looking and the model as a map, I find the majority of the landmarks are in good positions by themselves, but as a whole and relative to each other, the landmarks are rather monospaced and may need to be placed in some places farther from other landmarks and in some places closer. Also, I found the yellow land was not very accurate nor matching with any real maps because none of them are yellow. But I also understand you may not have enough brown or beige pieces. That's just fine. Edited July 24, 2017 by J P Incorrect grammer Quote

You were right to assume that I didn't have enough pieces to build it light brown (I have like 30 light brown pieces) compared to my 1500+ yellow parts. The scaling was very tricky for this build because I didn't want to make it too big that is was awkward to carry/move, I also didn't want too much empty land space so the ratio was tricky and thinking back there are defiantly some changes I could make. I also had to make it big enough that I could fit all the structures that I wanted could fit without being too cluttered. Thank you so much for the detailed response and feedback. This will totally help me in my building :) Thanks, MovieMocs Quote
Ancalagon the black Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Great map i like the iconic places you chose to represent just change the yellow to brown if you can but otherwise great work! Quote

Thanks so much! I don't have any brown parts (or anywhere close to enough) and I didn't wanna buy them. Maybe I'll rebuild it this winter and order some more parts :) Quote
ramar Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I love the idea and great work presenting each place. Agree with the yellow to brown issue but I understand completely. Quote
