LoganOfBrickener Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 (edited) Lieutenant Maître chirurgien Anton Dubrique First born child of the four children of Adélard Dubrique, a minor cloth merchant in the Old World. Anton felt overlooked and underappreciated in his youth, so much so that he signed on board a corvette of La Royale as a matelot at the age of fourteen to get away. Although he loved the sea, being a young and inexperienced sailor, he was given a position belowdecks, with the ship’s Maître chirurgien (Master surgeon), a kindly old man who more than happily took young Anton under his wing, teaching him the ins and outs of being a physician aboard a naval vessel. Anton took to this position halfheartedly, taking on spare tasks from the sailors in his free time. He yearned to be a ‘real’ sailor, and longed for the day he would be assigned above deck. Over time, he found himself enjoying the work as a surgeon, and he began to learn quicker. Coupled with his willingness to help out with small tasks on board, Anton rose swiftly through the ranks, receiving the title of Maître chirurgien, and then going on to receive his lieutenant’s commission at the age of 27 after serving on several different vessels. As of writing this, Anton is currently on shore leave in Eltina on Le Bellan for a few months awaiting his new post aboard a ship. _Salamander_ Posted April 16 Posted April 16 (edited) Corliss Freeman Born in Corrington, Corliss Freeman emigrated at a young age when his father purchased a small tavern in Oleon. Now, some 20 years later, Corliss is trying to manage the family tavern through difficult times. In an attempt to sell his ales more widely and open up new business opportunities across the seas, he has purchased a small transport vessel. So far, his strategy shows promise; he has been able to sell his ales into a couple of ports, and it looks like this might be the way to turn the tavern’s fortunes around. On his last voyage though, he heard tell of the “Route du Rhum”, and his attention was turned; could this be the opportunity he’s been seeking? Edited April 16 by _Salamander_ Fixed image Quote
