icm Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Neither of these builds are anything special, but I thought somebody might like to see them. They're in two topics to avoid cluttering the forum. Comments, criticism, and links to similar builds by other people welcomed. Cessna This was my last build before my Dark Ages, at age 14. It more or less resembles a Cessna 206, at an approximate scale of 1 stud = 1 foot. Except for the multicolored parts, I think it still holds up pretty well to modern builds. The roof is removable and the seats fold down. I didn't have appropriate wheels when I was 14, so I recently replaced the old wheels with new ones that roll. That required a very small amount of stud inversion under the nose. (Front quarter view) (Cabin) Interplanetary Patrol fighter As a child, I wrote a lot of silly stories about Interplanetary Patrol vs. the Plutians; that is, Earth vs. raiders from Pluto. Then I discovered it was more interesting to think about how the ships were built than how they were used, which led me into engineering. This is essentially a miniaturized, armed version of 7470, built when I was 12. I was already following AFOL forums online, though I didn't join any of them, and I built it to AFOL standards as best I could - hence the effort at a smooth finish, coordinated color scheme, and detailed cockpit. Note the ejection seat and the laser guns at the wing root. Regrettably, it's quite tail heavy, so it needs a big bumper at the aft end. The entire thing uses about 560 parts, and I still have it today. Since I followed the AFOL forums, I knew about TLG's financial troubles in the early 2000s, and I told myself that if Lego would just invest in lines with really solid, detailed builds with lots of cool features like my Interplanetary Patrol fighter, they wouldn't have any financial trouble at all. Looks like they took my advice! :) (Front quarter view) (Rear quarter view) (Cabin) Quote
