This new game from the BattleField series takes place around modern times, near future more like it though. If features driveable vehicles, accurate weaponry from the factions involved, a nice little storyline, and a fictional but not so far off from becoming a reality faction.

The groups involved in BattleField 2 is:

United States of America

People's Republic of China

Middle East Coalition

There's about 5 classes of soldier types you can play as, each armed with different weaponry according to the roles they play in the battlefield. There's also several kinds of vehicles you can use during the fight each of which are specific to the nations they belong to.

The US has American made weaponry and vehicles, with some weapons from Europe.

Meanwhile China has its own indigenously designed weapons and vehicles with a few weapons coming from Russia. Whereas the M.E.C. has just about all its weapons imported from the Russians, or considering the current geo-political situation in the game... produced within the M.E.C. under license.

You have GOT to check out this cool gameplay clip. It's rock-paper-scissors match up between the US and China forces.

Most of the weapons the Chinese have in the game exist in real life. It also appears that Electronic Arts did their homework on the modern Chinese army and put the latest known weapons China has into the game. They also probably used this site as their main source.

In the BattleField 2 clip I posted and in that Chinese military site, you'll see the:

FAV (Fast Attack Vehicle) jeep

WZ-10 attack helicopter

Type-95 bulpup assault rifle

AK-47

Jian-10 (or J-10) multi-role fighter
