ExcelsiorUK Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Hello, this might seem like a daft question, but obviously bricks are designed to stack, plates to go on top of plates and so on. I believe though that you could, for example, put a plate at ninety degrees to another plate and have it sit between the stud rows. Is that considered a, well, legitimate building method if it were of use? Would it be frowned upon by the MOC community? I'm rather new to all this! Quote
MAB Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 It was used by LEGO in the 1980s (eg in set 375) and is known as the pony ears technique (after where it was used). I think it had gone out of favour (by them) but they have started doing similar things again recently. MOC'ers often don't care as much, often connecting bricks or plates in less than LEGO legal ways. Quote
Andy D Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) There was a thread here on EB that discusses this. Also a couple of posts link to an article by Jamie Berard discussing "legal" LEGO called builds "Stressing The Elements". IHTH Andy D Edited May 18, 2017 by Andy D Quote
