I'm looking around to get the hang of this particular forum before I put my foot in it and start promoting a project whilst still being a newbie.  I think I'm allowed to, but if it ends up being hopeless compared to the other MOCs on here I may just stay drooling at the prettiness of everyone else's creations!  I'm definitely an AFOL, my son having brought Lego back into my life in a sort of NinjaNexoSpaceStarCity mashup.  So many shiny new bricks along with all the ones that wouldn't have been out of place in my old collection.  I also still have my old Lego Club badges!

I'm exactly in the position you're talking about: Came back from my Dark Ages through my son getting Duplo as presents. Mainly drooling about every one else's creations and wondering why mine aren't up to par :D Still having fun in here, hope you will too!

You are not allowed to promote your creations as said in guidelines, but you can show your creation and add a link to the ideas topic without promoting it.
