Hello everyone, I'm new to the community, but have been a browser for a long time. I've been a Lego fan my whole life and recently came across an opportunity to pick up a huge lot of Legos. The individual claims that in Minifigures alone have a value over $1500. But basically it's a mess and it will take a lot of work to sort and rebuild. He also said nothing has been really removed from the sets and they should be complete. Some of the highlights he listed were:

10144 - Sandcrawler Star Wars 4/5/6

75019 - AT-TE SW Ep 2

75020 - Jabbas Sail Barge SW 4/5/6

75021 - Republic Gun Ship SW Ep2

3569 - Grand Soccer Stadium

3433 - NBA Ultimate Arena

3182 - City Airport (No Runways)

4842 - Hogwarts Castle 4th edition

He said there's tons more and those were some of the major sets he had. I'm just curious how much you guys would pay for something like this? Also here are some pics he sent he said this is just a small sample size of everything. Thank you everyone in advance for your thoughts as this is a huge purchase for me and I just don't want to overpay.

This reminds me on a haul of unsorted bricks & pieces I could obtain a while ago from a car boot sale for 4 quid a bag

So in my opinion...1500 sounds way too much, unless there are some really super rare things in it I am not aware of. The Minifigs I see don't appear to be so super rare, for example...

4 quid lol? Sorry if from the US and not to sure what that is. But yeah he claims that this is far from everything and just pic of some of the bigger sets. As far as the Minifigures I didn't really see any in there either so I'm not sure as far what he has that equal the $1500 in Minifigures alone that was said. The price I can get the Lot for is $1100 delivered.

Quid is an informal term for pounds, sorry about that, I'm picking up habits from the locals here

I think he is trying to sell you some of his old stuff by severely overclaiming its value. If he really has something worthwhile, why isn't he showing it? $1100 should be a good enough motivation to dig that out.

And just think what you can get on bricklink for that money...

See those are my thoughts exactly. I'd love to get the older sets and all that but it just seems high to me based on the pics. Also if you look at the bigger sets he quoted, I could get them Complete on brick link for I think less than what he's wanting. I was hoping I was missing something in the pics and there might be something warranting the value but it's not seeming that way. The thought of sorting everything and seeing all the older sets and getting a huge lot of unknown Legos was exciting.

It's dusty, unsorted and as Littlefield pointed out, he's not really showing the minifigures. There are some nice sets there though, nearly complete from what I can see. However, the state of the instructions suggests a level of carelessness I'd be very concerned about.

This is just my opinion, but $1100 is too much. For a job lot I'd want boxes and I'd want pictures that showed better what I was buying. In fact, for that money, I'd want to inspect the collection before any money changed hands.

Again, just my opinion, but on the basis of these photos alone $500 + P&P and you'd still be doing him a favour. As an eBay auction, it would attract speculator attention and go higher than that... but it sounds like he doesn't want that level of hassle.

I'm with @badgerboy. From those photo you can't tell what you really are selling. If you want that amount of money I would suggest you assemble the sets so that one can tell what you really have. From the photos I cannot tell what is there and for that kind of lot ((if you do not want to assemble) maybe you should sell it by the pound (look for other lots sold by the pound) but this will get you much less than you want.

In order to maximize your sale you should assemble and re photo and let folks know what kind of completion to expect.

I think $1500 is just too much for a mixed lot.

Just MHO, YMMV,

Thank you for your response and opinion. I was a little troubled as well with the look of the instructions and dustyness as well. Almost as if they've been long forgot about and had been all thrown together in a box. The unfortunate part I wouldn't be able to inspect In person as they live in California and me Ohio. He said he doesn't sell on eBay and hasn't been pressuring to do the deal like now, but like you said you would think there would be more care in the pictures and showing of the Minifigures and value in the lot of it is as nice as claimed. I don't know thou maybe he just doesn't have the time to accurately represent something and just half butted some pics but it is troubling as if it was my Lot you'd get all kinds of pics especially of the money shots like Minifigures

Sorry I wasn't more clear this is a lot that I can purchase, not one I'm selling.

Sorry, that was an autocorrect oversight. I recall typing "Littleworlds" too, because I checked your username. I despise technology sometimes!

I agree. Especially when it tries to be smarter than its user!

I think if he were asking $500 then the value is there, but like the others have said, this doesn't look like a collection that has been cared for very well.

Then you mention that he is pressuring you to buy now, and asking for over $1000? I would wish him luck and move on. You can find better deals on used Lego elsewhere for less, through both Bricklink, and vigilant eBaying. Heck, even new sets would be a better value than a bunch of that (at least it looks that way in the pics). Good luck!
