Steam-punk X-wing MOC

[Piranha]

Well I thought I would try my hand a Steampunk MOCing, which is basically fantasy style involving steam use with elements of the past and future. Recently over on the FBTB they had a contest entitled "Steam Wars" where you build an iconic vehicle from the SW Saga.

I picked the X-wing since it is a beautiful ship and I enjoyed building it :-) It took me about 3+ hours and in the end I couldn't get R2 to fit right, and the use of Bley, Grey, Rewn and Brown :-P

So Piranha Advancements proudly present:

My one gripe is that R2D2 can't fit in, and the lasers on the wings, I think should be replaced by something more "steampunky".

Apart from that this is great, you've done an excellent job with this.

Thanks EB! Yes I didn't realize this until I finished, I wanted the front to be narrow, but the rear needs some bricks :-D

I have seen the MF and TIE, done so the logical choice was the X-wing

Well, actually, the astromech is already shaped a bit like a boiler, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to turn it into some sort of steam-droid (sorry, I couldn't think of a pun). Just change the colour(s), maybe make it a bit higher, add an exhaust, there you have it.

Crossbows are better for Dark Age :-D I'm thinking of cannons

Thanks Brainbox! The boiler for an astromech is a good idea! *y* I'm glad you have been inspired, after seeing all the Steam wars creations I couldn't resist trying it for myself

Nice! What would be nice was if there was more lego available in brassy gold colours to add to steam punk creations. The engines look brilliant, definitely see them working as propulsion in steam punk. Are the white round bricks the steam?

Anyway well done and I'd love to see more steam punk from you.
