I'm talking from an investment standpoint.  Do you think LEGO Dimensions sets that feature rare minifigures, such as ET or the Stay-Puft man, will become valuable in the future (regardless of how well Dimensions does)?  Or do you think those minifigures' popularity will rise and fall with LEGO Dimensions's popularity?

This is always a tricky subject. As everything, it boils down to supply vs. demand. Certainly, there will be lots of peeps who missed out and who will want to get their hands on these figures. However, Dimensions (it seems) has been not as successful as Lego wanted, with TRU even having a 50% sale a couple of weeks ago. So Lego might have overproduced. At the same time, I remember the reason Cloud City is so valuable is because of its exclusive figures and its limited run due to it being a badly received set. Honestly, it's hard to tell. I'd probably pick a couple but not make a huge investment. I imagine there's a profit to be made, but I wouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket. Franchises that keep attracting younger audiences, such as Star Wars, Marvel, and DC, are probably better investments in my opinion.

Something rare with zero demand would be hard to sell.

I know the Ninjago Zane parts can't be found on Bricks & Pieces as far as I can tell. Not even listed. Regular Zane parts aside from metal fro don't seem to be available.

Why do you think there would be zero demand for minifigures like ET and the Gremlin, even in the absence of LEGO Dimensions the video game?
