While this has been the case for many AFOLs, I'm curious how much it will continue to apply in the future. A lot of the AFOLs around my age who ARE in relationships (men and women alike) either found their romantic interests within the LEGO fan community or brought them into the AFOL community fairly early in their relationships. Plus, I feel like the number of girls/women and LGBT people in the community is growing, so even if romantic pursuits do continue to pull people away from LEGO as teens and young adults, it might just as easily be an interest in boys as an interest in girls. summicron Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 For me it was money. I was depressed and worried about money to the point of depression. Lego was so far away from my life. Quote
RoxYourBlox Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 What precedes the dark ages would be the opposite of what succeeds it, namely a lack of (in order of importance): Encouragement Ideas Funds Space ...I can check off 3 of those 4. Quote
Steamdemon Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Mine was actually a few years ago. I hadn't played with my lego for a while, and I think I came back getting into lego in October...this year. My first foray back into lego was the Super soarer. And then I got my first Nexo Knights set, the Falcon blaster.... thing is, I used to live in Cheshire, North West England, and my room was actually quite suitable for lego...my Wiltshire room, South West England is a bit chaotic...so yeah...space was mainly the issue.
