legotrainfan Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Are your pets secret LEGO fans? Do they play with bricks? Or do they use bricks for something else? Or do they destroy your LEGO creations and bricks? Our last cat once slept on LEGO bricks that were lying on the floor. Have you yourself ever tried that? ;-) And now we've got a new cat. She's still quite young. Only 9 or 10 months. When she finds a brick, she plays with it and moves it over the floor, attacks it and takes it into her mouth to carry it around. I don't like it when she takes them into her mouth. Her teeth leave traces on the bricks. The cat who preceded those two already mentioned chewed on a knight's sword. The marks of her teeth could also be seen on it well. Or the son of friends once built a little house for their cat's little kittens. The young ones really enjoyed going in and out that LEGO kitten house. You should have seen them. It was hilarious to watch 'em. Quote
SirNadroj Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 (edited) Once my bird flew into the basement, landed on Skeleton Tower, and knocked it over into a million little pieces. But she really loves lego. She picks them up with her feet and plays with them. *wub* Edited January 28, 2008 by SirNadroj Quote
Pate-keetongu Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Our dog pushes my bricks with her nose. Some time ago she bit my velika's weapons. about year age she ate luminara unduli's lightsaber blade. but today, she plays and pushes them when I am building on floor *sweet* . Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 (edited) This is my cat Fox when he was a Kitten - this is a VERY early version of Tabletown, it was much smaller back then... Fox is dead now. :-( Dr. S. Edited January 28, 2008 by Doctor Sinister Quote
Mofo Jones Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Our cats like to "help" me build by pawing at the bricks. Also, one of them stole Luke from my 7130 and although I found the minifig, I didn't find the helmet for almost a year. Quote
legotrainfan Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 Oh, I forgot one thing about Minou, the cat we now have! She once walked through my train layout and she is a half Angora cat. So she has longer hair than normal cats and I thought: "Brilliant! The cat's hair! Another way of removing dust from LEGO stuff!" :-D Quote
Matn Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 My current cat just looks at it and smells at the train if it is riding. She's a bit scared of it (she is an abonded cat who stood at or door a few days after our old cat died). My grandparents cat on the other hand loves them. He jumps and plays with the train if is riding and every antenna he sees he bites (softly, you can't see it) on it or gives heads to it. He loves to sit within the train layout. He did scratch on a precious road plate. 8-| Quote

General Zen Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 My golden retriver loves to grab my stray lego bricks on the floor mostly while I'm on eurobricks to get my attention. (Hence, my avatar) X-D He han't totally ruined any brick, but sometimes I sneak mega-bloks in his dog dish. He sure has his uses! ;-) Quote
TheFrisian Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Our cat had the annoying tendency to jump onto the shelves on which my most prized LEGO models are on display, with some less than fortunate results. But spraying the cat with water every time she even looked at the shelves proved to be a very effective deterrent. It has been a while since her last attempt >:-) Quote
Scouty Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 My pets are fish, so I have no problems with them and my Lego X-D ! (Less the bricks fall into the water :'-( ) Quote
captaintau Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 My hamsters arn't generally allowed near my LEGO as they'd chew it. Somewhere on EB, there's a pic of a previous hamster, Buffy, atop the Millennium Falcon, staring at Han Solo. Great pic'. My pets are fish, so I have no problems with them and my Lego X-D !(Less the bricks fall into the water :'-( ) So, you've never set them on your pirates? :-D Quote
Athos Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 My sister had a rabbit that liked to hide amongst the Castle's I had on a table in my room. I was picking rabbit turds out of my tubs of Lego for ten years... :-X Steve Quote
Turaga of Force Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 6 cats + Zamor spheres = 6 happy cats. LOL. They love playing with my Zamor spheres, the real ones and some foam golf-ball sized ones I have, and they jump on my BIONICLE shelves, and lay on my City, Star Wars, Castle, Jungle, Vikings, etc stuff to get my attention. They are really careful though, for example on the shelves, they hardly even mess it up. Though it gets annoying when they do. Once one knocked Battle of Metru Nui off a shelf... They're really nice cats :) And the fish don't do anything... :P Before the hamster died, (and before the castle got a ball kicked into it and broke) he liked King Leo's Castle. Pets are awesome! LEGO is awesome! Pets + LEGO = Happy pets = awesomeness! Quote
Darth_Legois Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 (edited) i'm hopeing someday, it will reverse, and i will sit watchg him build X-D 8- Edited January 28, 2008 by Darth_Legois_619 Quote
Corvus Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 My parrot likes to pick up peices in his beak, drop it, pick it up, drop it... Every once and a while he picks it up, walks away with it, and then drops it. *wub* Once, my cousin's dog chased my sister's cat through my lego area and up a window... it was like an explosion of lego. :'-( Will Quote
Hewman Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 My cats love standard helmets, yes I even buy them for them as they tend to knock them under the fridge. They bat them around the polished floorboards for ages. That and my male cat likes to chew my Harry Potter graveyard duel as I built it, that wasn't so cute. Quote
voltio Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 My mom's old cats never really interacted much with my Lego creations; I think I have only one chewed part, a black loudhailer. One time, though, Mom's big male tabby was sick, and spit up on my new Dino Research Compound. :-X Quote
zouave Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 The only interaction between my lego and my pet was when the dog chewed up a minifig. For a few weeks after that I worked hard on systems to keep the dog away. Quote
Wouwie Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 My cat always smash them trough the room, mostly with those little pieces..But it's fun to see it :-P Quote
Stauder Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 My parrot likes to pick up peices in his beak, drop it, pick it up, drop it... Every once and a while he picks it up, walks away with it, and then drops it. *wub* Aww How cute *wub* My dog bit up a small gear yesterday, first time in 9 years... Hope it wont happen again. Stauder Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Sometimes if theres loose peices on my floor, they will knock it around for awhile as if they were kittens *wub* (they're 12 and 14) So I dont have much trouble there, but once kitty was around me and knocked a moc in progress off the table to the floor :-$ They seem more interested in getting pet by me than destroying lego :-P Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 My hamster once ate a 1x1 round piece, but that is all! Quote
captaintau Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 My hamster once ate a 1x1 round piece, but that is all! Was he affected at all? That's a big piece for a little creature Quote
Brickadier General Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I used to have mice a long time ago, and I would always use the large grey baseplate and build a maze on it. It was fun to watch them go through, but unfortunately they'd crap everywhere in it, and we always had to wash the baseplate. Quote
