Saberwing40k Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Very nice, especially with virtual pivot steering. Gotta ask, how well does that work with the suspension? Also, strangely enough, I think the real truck looks like a knockoff Ford dump truck of similar era. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Love this submission. The older look isn't something we see often. I see a lot of Porsche parts here. How much of the bodywork are panels, lift arms from the Porsche? Quote
VKTechnic Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I think the only part I'd change is the front grille. Everything else looks spot on, great work! Quote
Attika Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Great MOC, the only thing I'm missing is the big cloud of smoke from behind. These ZIL's were famous about their consumption. (50-100 liters/100 Km). Steering is ingenious. Quote
Beck Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 (edited) Looks very realistic. How durable/sturdy is the virtual pivot axle. It appears that the lift arms could easily pop off of the wheel hubs. In your video you shifted gears without stopping; how smooth was this gear change while in motion,? Edited April 6, 2017 by Beck Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Very nice truck, it looks great. How strong is the virtual pivot steering system? Going through sand, it seems like that would wreck the steering system. Quote
evortigosa Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Beautiful work! Looks the real thing in almost everything I like the steering system, seems cleaver and functional Quote
DrJB Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Very nice. I see many orange panels ... How many Porsche have you sacrificied recycled to build this truck? Quote
Lakop Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Great moc. Some clever techniques used, love the tipping bed and the use of old school wheels. Colour scheme is done very well. H Quote
Sylvian Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Awesome! not a big fan off the steering though,. i reckon at this scale an undriven solid axle shouldnt be that hard.. but yeah fenders and tires rubbing.. still. :P Nonetheless very nice truck!! Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Wow, looks stunning. When i see photos for first time i think that it's built from brick, not some beams and panels. Very impressive and close to original) Quote
Nazgarot Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 That is a impressive looking model! I love the organic shapes of the bodywork, and the overall look of the model! -ED- Quote

In your video you shifted gears without stopping; how smooth was this gear change while in motion,? The virtual pivot steering system is surprisingly rugged. But it is very difficult to setup at the beginning. There is some backlash in the system. But it does not make problems bigger than other axis types in lego. The gearbox works smoothly with this part 26287 Cross Axle, Extension, 3M On 6.04.2017 at 6:54 PM, Leonardo da Bricki said: Very nice truck, it looks great. The steering system is very durable, with only a fair amount of play (backlash) Of corse it is not for offroad use but works great on flat surfaces Quote
offroadcreations Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 It looks very nice, I agree that the panels on the sides of the lights should be changed, All the orange is very impressive, and the steering works great. I like it a lot, great representation. Quote
Samolot Posted June 16, 2017 Author Posted June 16, 2017 (edited) Instruction for steering system of this model is now available on youtube. Spoiler Edited June 16, 2017 by Samolot Quote
Rudivdk Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Very nice build, looks great. Love the use of the old rubber hovercraft parts as front bumper, very clever and functional also Quote
Eddie_Young Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 (edited) Awesome!!! I'm wondering...do the doors click into place when opened/closed like they would on a real car? Edited June 17, 2017 by Eddie_Young Quote
