I'm not really sure this belongs here, but I couldn't think where else it belongs...

While most of the S17 Collectible Minifigures have been revealed, one is still blacked out and hasn't been revealed yet. At first I was bemused by this, but now I've come to actually be excited... it's been so long since I bought a set where I wasn't intimately familiar with all of the parts, and it'll be a nice change to buy something and actually see it for the first time in hand.

My request is that the front page news preserves this secrecy, and I don't get the surprise spoiled by seeing it on a news article one day. I have a feeling this would be in keeping with the wishes of the Lego company as well.

(Obviously I don't think it would need to be enforced that all discussion of it is behind spoiler tags, since it would be my own common sense to avoid places where it might be discussed. But it's hard to avoid front page news)

My understanding is that LEGO currently has a sort of embargo on showing this minifigure.  So, I would say that as soon as this embargo is lifted (ostensibly May 1st when the product is officially released), it is completely fair to show images.  I fully expect to see them at that point, hopefully in the Portal.

I kind of like David Thomsen's request. We're pretty thoroughly spoiled about many LEGO products as it is, and I can see how it's kind of a rare opportunity to enjoy a surprise for once.

There'll still be ample opportunity for anyone who actually wants to see the "mystery" minifigure as soon as possible to do so in the appropriate thread in Special Themes; I don't see a need to put it on the front page the instant it appears, and one can't reasonably expect everyone to be able to get a complete Minifigures series on the first day of release. I hope the EB powers-that-be agree the request is a reasonable one, and don't post images of it right away someplace where they'll be seen by everyone who comes to the site.

OP was only asking it not be frontpaged, not to block showing it after the embargo. Whitefang already mentioned in his review when it would be revealed, so I'm also not sure why you are trying to guess a date here.

Seems like a reasonable request, though I would imagine it will be all over the internet in Lego circles and hard to not  see it accidentally if you frequent AFOL-popular sites at all.

I'm not sure what it could be that would be... any more amazing than the other minifigures.

I mean Mr. Gold was at least a gold dude. This guy is just some generic - highwayman- (highlight for name of the figure)? Idunno. Maybe it'll be special in some way. I think really standing out like Mr. Gold means you have to go kind of crazy. If it's just another unique minifigure design that is normal otherwise then I wouldn't see what was so special about hiding him.

It's not necessarily that it's an especially amazing minifigure; the point is about merely preserving a little joy of surprise, for those who don't want to know absolutely everything there is to know about the series in advance, since part of the fun is in simply discovering the figure as one gets it.

You may want to consider editing your post so it doesn't divulge the minifigure's name, in case David Thomsen is still following the thread.
