the problem is she has a little brother...7.. so weve been living together for 2 years now and her little brother visits us often as he still lives with her parents.

I can't believe everyone missed this part. Clearly the kid needs to get a job, stop eating other people's LEGO and sponging off his parents by living at home. He's 7 already, when do they expect him to become a responsible member of society if they don't start pushing him now? >:-( ;-)

do you let others play with your lego collections?

You're kidding, right? :-| *wacko*

For me it's no problem if my great cousin with her two little twins or some other cousins come for a visit. I have two big boxes with LEGO bricks. One with standard LEGO bricks in most colours and another one with castle parts and black and grey bricks. So they can play with that stuff. Those boxes contain about 8 kilos of LEGO. That is sufficient for them. As for my real precious train collection they are not allowed to play with them. But when lil' kids are around, my brother locks the celler anyway, because his non-LEGO modell train is also down there. And if the lil' kids want to play with some LEGO vehicles, I give them either my brother's X-D or some of my own collection that are old, dusty and easy to reassamble. But they won't get many vehicles! I don't want to spend hours on finding the right bricks or buying half of the bricks from bricklink because they lost them while playing. But playing with my trains? NO WAY! >:-( Though I'd possible let them play if they are at least 10 years old... and most of my cousins are not. But if I let them play when they are 10 or older is more a theoretical issue than a practical one! ;-)

Well... we never have any visitors over to our house anyway, so it's not really a problem! :-D

Anyway, seriously, my parents occasionally take an interest in what I'm working on, and my MOCs/MODs are all over my wall (on shelves obviously), so it's pretty hard not to look at them.

My sister doesn't want to go near my Lego (that, and she's not allowed in my room ;-) ), so that's not a problem either. The only other people who might be near my Lego are my friends, and I trust them enough to be sensible and respect my intricate sorting system(s) and pre-built MOCs/MODs. Besides, I'd be there anyway, so they'd be under constant supervision.

No one would go near my Lego when I wasn't there either, as it's all in my bedroom, and I'm not too keen about people going in when they shouldn't, especially without me there.

Exactly Copmike! drug use is NOT COOL! I'm surprised that no one else commented on this >:-(

I missed the reference in my ignorance/innocence... Different cultures respond in different ways.

Northern Ireland for example...

God Bless,

Who believes you are better using your mind then wasting it... (quazi-intentional pun)

Do more lego!

Smoking sigarettes is nearly as unhealthy as smoking "mary jane", if soft drugs are deemed illegal for health reasons, tobacco should be banned as well. Personally I use neither, I find life just as enjoyable without stuff like that. So from a personal point of view I'm with Nathan on this one: Save your body and mind, do more LEGO instead!

Back on topic...

I'm fine with my younger cousins playing with 80-90% of my collection, but there are sets and minifigures I put away when they visit. For example, we've had a lot of fun playing with Alpha Team, Aquazone, and Adventurers, but they've never seen (and will not see for several years) my UCS Rebel Blockade Runner and 7190 Princess Leia. I'm sure that they have more fun with sets intended for their age group, anyway. *sweet*

LEGO'S! HE SAID LEGO'S X-O X-O X-O

Ah, whatever. Yes, I do let some of my (mature) friends use the bricks - SW, Town, Bionicle, whatever it may be - but always try to keep them away from little kiddies. I hate having a LEGO collection sometimes because little kids always try to get to them... but oh well, it can't be as bad as your case. Uugh... if anyone did that to my LEGO I would KILLLLL them (jk).

And to add insult to injury, you could use one of the minifig weapons. Or would the blood be a problem? ;-)

Well one of the big reasons that "mary jane" was banned in the US and tobacco wasn't is at the beginning of the century when the legislation was written, there was a very large tobacco establishment already and marijuana didn't have that. I dont use either, but I dont think the issue is just black and white.

On the topic at hand I have a little brother thats knows what to touch and what not to touch thankfully, so otherwise I'd have to ban him from touching anything. I don't really mind people touching whats easily within reach because the sets and mocs I'm really worried about are on shelves and ledges and are clearly off limits.

I have a younger cousin that is about 8 years old staying with me. He will not treasure any toys of his and I regretted buying Lego to him. I had started back my collections last year and had purchased so many over the course of time. As a kid, I do understand that his older cousin (me) has a new toy and generally, he will want it too. I bought a few small City sets for him and teaching him how to build it from the instructions. When I was 8, I build them all by myself but as for him, he can

but the set cannot survive the home trip as he is impatient and start building at the shopping centre leaving parts behind all the time.

:-X What? I couldn't bear that.

At the end of the day, I got him a Gameboy. No longer touches my stuffs.

:-D The subtlety of bribery.

Nobody ever comes over to my house...I either go over to my friends' houses, or I drive out at the mall or something with my friends. No, I've never really had a problem. (Yes, I do have a life. No, I don't spend it with anyone in my room.)

My friends are more obsessed with my Transformers anyway. :-P

Ahhhhh yes as proud as I am about my collection, there are a few stipulations I have about them. I have around 40 of my 200 technics on display in my room for all to see. I allow people to see them but NO TOUCHING unless..1) Your a fellow AFOl 2)your hands have been thoroughly washed 3) your at least 13 years of age and mature enough to handle them 4) i have some sort of blunt object or fast action weapon (.38 of mine does nice) around with me. I cant have anyone dirtying up my technics........I cant even stand for dust to be on them making them subject to periodic cleaning. As for my 8880, it has a nice little case around its precious body.....

As for my guard......try not to piss him off or he'll rip you into tiny megablock pieces....
