I'm not reading through like 13 pages, so I don't know if this has been mentioned, but it looks like he comes with an 8- Indy sidepouch! The hair should be interesting, if it can combine with other helmets, that'll be a lot of fun!

Well Mutley i didn't want to be rude but........ :-P X-D

If lego does decide to give us elves, i really hope that they don't forget to give us more dwarf sets.

So far the dwarfs seem to have been left out alittle :-/

Yeah, they really need to release more Dwarves. Maybe they think that the playability is limited because they lack hip joints.

Perhaps we'll get lucky and they will release a Dwarves+Elves battle pack next year.

Yes, it has been mentioned already.

I'm guessing it's a flexible quiver!

I'm just excited overall this is continuing. Seriouslky, how useful are these factions?

The beards, helmets and weapons are great for my Interactive apocalypse and for bearded bikers. The orcs are great for monsters and mutants and will also be joining IA. Elves will no doubt continue the trend of usefulness.

To the Bricksignal!

True but one thing is missing so far: the hero !! We need a hero to rescue a hot princess !! We do have the Queen so definitly not her :-D But we'll have a broomed hottie with the advent calendar !!

We need a hero now !! We only have factions and 2 leaders (1 good, 1 bad). And I said a hero, not a jellybean sissy :-P

That would be a nice set, a hero, a princess to rescue (maybe the princess from 7093, but not nescesairy) and a big monster to fight (dragon, big mean troll, something like that)

Its funny to me, how we all have, for some reason, without a single shred of evidence at all, latched onto the idea that a Pirate theme will be forthcoming.

That's just human psychology: when a situation is ambiguous, we tend to think what we want to be true really is the truth.

I see it happen alot with Brickarms items. I give a small hint about a new item, and folks will make tortured leaps of logic to make whatever item it is they want to see produced fit the clue.

Given we weren't suppose to know about the Agents line when this was hinted and that's clearly a story-based line for 2009, I'd be willing to bet that's it. 'Tis a shame, really; while I do think Agents is going to be fun, Pirates and Castle were my first LEGO loves, and with the Castle line, TLC has shown they can go back to their roots with style.

Nope agents is this year and Greg F who is writin it says it not agents

can still be pirates

and aint this a castle topic?

Yes, it is, or doubtless you wouldn't have recognized this topic. ;-)

It'd be neat to see a new Pirate line, but... Hey, leave this discussion for the Pirates or Romans thread in the Embassy! *pirate*

What's this about an advent calendar? Is there really going to be a Castle themed advent calendar?

Thanks for catching me up, Casewindu!

If we are indeed getting elves, I can't wait! I love how they are reusing the Indy manbag, and maybe we'll get helmet/hairpieces that work similarly to the dwarf helmets and beards. The only bad thing about the elves is that they won't fit in with mine... mine have Mongol hats and a dark red colour scheme. I guess there'll be my elves from the North and then the official elves from the woodlands! :-$

that would be a good idea but i fear that lego won't do a hair with helmet combo maybe for one or two of them they'll have custom rubbery :-X heads like *yoda* and the new kit fisto in the new SW set.

When i read about this i tried my hand at some elves. I had no idea what body to use and i'm not a good decaler so i just modded existing head/bodys. but mostly i just got a malfoy ( from HP) head with long blonde hair and the body was the body of the bishops in the new lego castle chess set except their arms were that new dark blue which i just *wub* . I don't know how elvish they look but maybe thier elves from the south or west or east (since you already laid claim to elves of the north) ;-) .

I'm hoping Lego will return to the days of long-lived themes. Castle has so much potential, especially within the fantasy setting. I think after a few years they should just introduce 1 new faction a year, plus continue making new sets for older factions (only not as many as in the faction's first year) and include characters from older factions so that all the new Castle sets fall under one theme. I think one big problem with Lego in the recent past was that they dropped a very large number of themes like Pirates and Castle, which had already endured for 10-20 years, in favour of introducing a theme and dropping it after just 1 or 2 years. I'm not saying Lego should never add new themes, I'm just saying they shouldn't make so many of them short-lived.

Ooh, a Castle advent calendar...I had one of the first calendars, which was things like tiny airplanes and cars, and creatures made out of bricks. Basically, it was just generic bricks, the kind I already had a bunch of (although I was able to add to my small supply of clear 2*2 slopes) with some that had eyes and whatnot printed on them (not very useful unless you're building creatures out of bricks), although I also got a couple of cool Santa minifigs. The newer themed advent calendars look a lot more interesting and useful.

im thinking the elves will have normal heads but the hair piece will be plastic but will have 2 rubbery elf ears on

In my opinion Lego won't continue LEGO castle sets in medieval style but more like fantasy (well in fact they have done it yet...) and I think in 2009 they'll develop the actual factions, specially trolls and dwarves, and they will launch the elves. I'm crazy to see these guys, specially for viewing if they have ears or not (would be a LEGO precedent!) *sweet* but I don't think they will offer us a new faction to be elves enemies |-/

No, that’s most unlikely. To do this you actually have some one, or develop something, that actually glues the ears to the plastic head. I think LEGO will go safe with this one and just make plastic heads with printings that indicate that it is an elf(/Elves). This doesn’t necessarily mean that we will have printed ears.

My dream would be that they try to make plastic heads with some tiny ears sticking out from the sides. But I’m afraid that such thing would be costly and I don’t think that LEGO will spend all the money on making a new mould that they only can use for elves in a medieval fantasy theme. To completely avoid making the ears would be a pity though.

That’s not necessarily true. LEGO is making a “hardcore fantasy-theme” now because that’s what’s popular for now. LOTR, Narnia, Warhammer (with a new MMORPG), Warcraft, World of Warcraft, Conan and many, many other franchise are doing well now. And although all this games/films/products are not meant to be for kids, they will be affected anyway.

Let us don’t forget that LEGO is in first hand, a business company. So there will be a fantasy theme as long there is a demand for it and as long as it sells.

I don’t actually know if the castle theme will go further more back to its roots, we have to wait and see. I personally would love to see, as many of you other, that we will have a more realistic theme with a Joust scene, a tavern, blacksmith etc. Unfortunately I don’t think this will bring enough money for the LEGO Company. But let us all cross our fingers.

For now I’m quite pleased with the fantasy theme. All my childhood-LEGO-castle theme-dreams are about to come true. If I had elves, dwarves and goblins when I was a kid, oh man then I would have been in heaven.

But I think that it is enough with evil factions for now. I totally agree that they should try to focus on develop some really nice sets for the existing fractions.

I agree, TLC will return to a classic medieval theme in time, but for now we get a great fantasy one. I personally love it, the new elements (anything with the dwarves, orcs, undead skellies) are fantastic and of great MOCing use. I really don't understand the logic of those who criticise it because they don't like fantasy, we've had the knight vs knight stuff forever, I'm glad we get a break.

I hope either of two things will happen next year:

1. Only Elves as a new faction, so the Orcs can get al ittle focus with an Orc Fortress, and the Dwarves can get more sets, which they desperately need.

2. Or, we DO get a new evil faction, but the role of background faction (used this year by the crownies) is taken up by dwarves.

Batbrick Away! >:-)

Yes, let us all cross our finger! :-)

My "hardcore"-mind towards the now phantasy-based "Castle" theme has changed:

Everybody should get what he wants - Each to his own. ;-)

In my opinion TLG could go on with all this fantasy stuff (because I anyway haven't got the money to buy and the place to store all Lego sets I want - so I'll concentrate (and am already concentrating) on SW and City) - if only they would release a S@H Exclusive with an inn, a blacksmith shop, some market stands, a medieval farm and a lot of medieval civilians.

Then I'd be content, too! :-D *sweet*

I agree, TLC will return to a classic medieval theme in time, but for now we get a great fantasy one.

On the one hand I don't think that TLG actually wants to and will bring back a great medieval theme - there would have been so much outer cases changed that this will become real (e. g. violent video games would have been to forbidden). But it doesn't seem that that will become real in the next future.

But on the other hand you're right because there will be a point in future when the fantasy aspect will get boring because there will be no more interesting and new ideas. And then TLG will return to sooner classic style. But until that oint will be reached it'll surely be a couple of years :-( .

The only sets which I'd be interested would be:

-a hut for the dwarves

-a dwarf Impulse set

-a nice set would contain either the witch or the female citizen from the advent calendar or both *wub*

The more precise descriptions of these wishes are written down some pages ago or in the "Ideas for new Classic Castle sets" topic here on EB.

Hey there folks, first post here.

Really stoked about the possible inclusion of Elves in the Castle line up. Always loved Castle, but the Fantasy Era stuff is awesome.

One thing I noticed though, the new Advent Calendar states that there are nine minifigs included, but only eight shown on the box. Could one be a new Elf do you think? Considering the proximity of the release to 2009?

Or it could just be the skeletal snowman :)

Welcome to Eurobricks! And good idea, a new elf would be nice. We'll likely get stuck with some extra crownie though...
