Impressed by my own last MOC, i rush another one. Now it takes 14 hours. I started with steered and driven front axle and finished with this:

  • Fair 4x4 with 3 differentials
  • Live axles at front and back, both using 3 control arm setup
  • Steering with longitudal steering arm, similar to control arms - this prevent steering while suspension play
  • Fake VR6 engine
  • Openable doors
  • HOG steering with steering gear located where is steering wheel supposed to be

Suspension travel is not so much, also it's too stiff for weight of this model. Motorized version with 2 motors and AA battery box will suspend more cool)

And close shot of front axle

Slightly more on FLICKR. I hope i'll find time to shoot some video. Thanks for reading)

Interesting!  I am not a huge fan of too many lift-arms in body works, but it is okay in yours.  I like the axle design, but you could work a bit on your photography, as IMO having part of the model blurred looks a bit strange. Ideally, all of the model would be in focus and the background would be blurred, but this is difficult to do and I know I have trouble with it. good work overall, for a 14 hour project.

Wow, just 14 hours...

I absolutely love the looks with all those ribbed hoses:wub:  How resistant is the steering rack substitute ?

@Leonardo da Bricki Thanks) There's small cheating with rollcage rear part - nothing illegal, but ends secured between parts, not by regular connections. And suspension travel do not affect steering at all... Steering arm is similar and parrallel to control arms. But have offset to one side, so some 2..5 degree of affection should be in case of tilting car to one side.

I love what you did with the steering. I have yet to see someone attempt this in a medium-large road going MOC, It seems promising.

This truck looks very cool, despite it is not motorized (at least not yet) i can imagine it must be a very fun model to play with, the suspension system along with the detailed body and engine, as well as those robust axles and that amazing steering system, all these features make this model a very nice one, i hope to see more of this model (i would like a video too), showing the functions in detail, thanks for sharing it.

Steering is clever, and used also in some real cars. The middle (under) part of car looks too complex, it seems, that it could be made sipmlir and with better clearance.

Thanks for your comments)

@Jurss Never seen it in real cars, surprised) Agreed - middle part looks too complex. It, surely, can be simplified without loosing rigidity (it's almost always possible =), but clearance can't be changed. Half stud from bottom point is center differential, and i already put it one stud higher than it should be. Looks at side shot - you will see how shaft to front axle already at maximum possible angle, almost touching torque-ball part. But with more complicated approach with additional gears clearance may be improved, i'll remember this for my future MOCs.

This is the perfect moment to say "Hey, that´s pretty good!", the video really shows how good this model is, i think that the steering system works enough good and i don´t see almost any movement due to the suspension, i think it works perfectly, as well as the differentials and the VR6, i didn't expected that it would have sound but it did, that is a great feature too, a model like this would be really great for an official set, nice functions and lots useful pieces, thanks for sharing the video.
