The Daphne Blue Strat Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 So, I'm new here. Not new to Lego, though; I'm eighteen, got my first Lego set (Renegade Runner!) at age5, and can honestly say that I've yet to experience the "dark ages" many of the older Lego builders talk about (G-d forbid I ever should!). My favorite theme by far is Pirates...although I also love the older Castle stuff, particularly the Woodsmen. A lot of Star Wars stuff is pretty cool too, and I've actually got quite an army of clone troopers. I read a lot. And I love music. So much, in fact, that I'm studying music business at college right now (Junior year...crazy stuff). So that's me. Avast. Quote
Shadows Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Welcome to EB! Yay for no dark ages! Stick with us and we'll make sure you never experience one. You've actually done well to get to 18 safely, you've got real promise. *y* Pirates! *wub* Woodsmen! *wub* Star Wars! *wub* I like you already *sweet* Music business? Cool, you can be my manager once I get my singing career going. I have it all planned out. It'll get a lot easier once I learn to sing *sing* ;-) Quote
Siegfried Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Welcome to Eurobricks! Do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend? That is the cause of many Dark Ages! :-P Quote
LuxorV Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Hello and Welcome to EB, The Daphne Blue Strat! This is the best place where to go, to avoid the risk of facing Dark Ages :-P *y* LuxorV Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 23, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 23, 2008 Welcome at Eurobricks! Hope you will never enter a dark age ;-) Quote
The Daphne Blue Strat Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Thanks guys...it's good to be here. I actually *do* have a girlfriend (of three years), and she likes Lego too and is (at least mildly?) supportive of my habit. I'm brand new to buying Lego online...anywhere else to look besides eBay and Bricklink? Quote
SlyOwl Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Welcome! *y* :-) I actually *do* have a girlfriend (of three years), and she likes Lego too and is (at least mildly?) supportive of my habit. If ever I do succumb to my "heart", then I would prefer to have an anti-Lego female-associate; in my experience 2 people can't play Lego at the same time! X-D SlyOwl *pirate* Quote

X-D SlyOwl *pirate* Haha...well she's not as obsessed as I am, and not interested in detailed realistic model-building or anything like that...so it usually works out pretty peacefully. Except that time I tried to press half of her pirate ship's crew into service on my (short-lived) warship... 8-| Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Welcome to EB, you seem like a great and friendly guy; you'll fit in great ;-) Hope to get to know you better and see you around the boards, nice to meetcha :-$ Quote
Norro Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Hey and welcome! A castle fan and you've had no dark age? Welcome to the elite of the lego world my friend ;-) X-D God Bless, Nathan Quote
The Daphne Blue Strat Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 Hey and welcome!A castle fan and you've had no dark age? Welcome to the elite of the lego world my friend ;-) X-D God Bless, Nathan "Castle fan" does not, sadly, translate into "Castle afficianado". I really don't have too much Castle stuff...most of it is from the early-90s (and is, most unfortunately, in very bad shape), except for a couple little sets from the late 90's and a few Viking sets. Maybe I should clarify my "no dark age" statement...I've never stopped loving to PLAY (or build, for you stodgy grown-up types) with Legos, but my acquisition of new sets has been minimal until the last couple years. Something which I hope to remedy in the near future. Quote

The Daphne Blue Strat Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 Welcome Daphne Blue strat, always use for another pirate fan! *y* Any chance we can see that shortly lived warship? It's short life has already ended...and my stuff's all at home (I'm at college now). I'm bringing it here though in a couple weeks, and I'll take pictures of my ship's current state. It's nothing too magnificent, but there's a project in the works... *y* Quote
Asuka Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Hello and welcome to the classic side of the brick. *y* Quote
