Gozer Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Which technique to use to create a Lego bow? I should make a series of arches gradually more and larger starting already from quite a large extent. Thanks to all of the answers. Quote
VaderFan2187 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 (edited) As in a bow and arrow? Maybe you could use this part plus more arch pieces behind? Edited February 17, 2017 by VaderFan2187 EDIT: Oh no! I forgot I was trying to stay at 404 posts :D Quote
Slegengr Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 @Gozer Do you mean arches in a bridge? It might work to use arch bricks or inverted slope bricks to make an arch, then stack 1x? bricks (like real stones in an arch) to make the arch surface. I have used this technique in a recent MOC and a MOC yet to be completed and posted, and the results seemed fine. This technique is a bit interesting to do, though, as the arch needs to be supported while the bricks are inserted until the last bricks are added. This becomes particularly difficult when there are multiple bricks in line on the same layer. Reference this post "Skybridge" where I used this technique. Also, here is the lighted image. If you want to build this type of arch and are interested, I could share more pictures of this technique from my larger MOC, in which I use the stacked bricks in layers that are made up of multiple 1x1, 1x2, and 1x3 bricks. Thanks maybe I can use this technique for creating my arches. My arches are used for creating a church portals so in reality are three arches in series and a very big arches but I can try to build them with this method. If you possible can post other images it's better and a great thing for me. Thanks @Slegengr Quote
Slegengr Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 @Gozer I will upload technique images tomorrow if I get the chance. This can be a frustrating technique for large arches, but it is a nearly exact representation of real arches in construction. The support during building is essential, and this is what makes it a challenge. I will explain more with the images soon. Quote
Gozer Posted February 21, 2017 Author Posted February 21, 2017 Ok @Slegengr I accept the challenge When you are ready post some images and I will try to use the technique. Thanks Quote
Slegengr Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 @Gozer I sent you a private message with an explanation of the arch process. You may need to have at least 10 posts with your Eurobricks account to obtain the rank of "Vassal" in order to view private messages. I am not sure about this, but let me know if you cannot see the message. Quote
Gozer Posted February 22, 2017 Author Posted February 22, 2017 @Slegengr it's ok.I can read the message. Now I see everything and then let you know Quote
