Daniel-Technic Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Good evening all. is there a suitable table lamp I can use to see better on lego as I am having trouble seeing similar colours pieces but total different? cheers daniel. Quote
dr_spock Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Using light bulbs that have daylight color temperature (5000K) might help. I have problems with blacks and dark blues when using light bulbs in the 3000K (soft white) color temperature range. Quote
Daniel-Technic Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 Thanks. Is that like white bright led light? I have a small led white torch that help me compare different colours but it is awkward to hold it while sorting out pieces. i have found a nice table lamp with white led light so I'll give that a try. Noctina Noir Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 I have a flexible neck table light with a Daylight bulb that I use for when I'm doing art with markers and a flashlight with a similar bulb when I'm shopping for fabrics because I can run into the same issues when trying to match out colors for cosplays. Yes they are brighter than your standard bulb. I don't remember if they come in LED form, but I've never looked.. Quote
62Bricks Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 The "daylight" bulbs are usually fluorescent, and in my opinion are easier on the eyes than LED lamps. I've found them very helpful when sorting old light gray from light bluish gray pieces. I do worry about possible yellowing/fading of pieces from exposure to the fluorescent light so I usually only use it for quick table-top photographs and when sorting. 5 hours ago, Daniel-Technic said: Thanks. Faefrost Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 If you do a lot of Hobby work than get something like an Ottlite. They are desktop or freestanding Hobby lamps that give good natural daylight coloring. They are designed for sewing or fine Hobby work such as modeling. They really really help. You can find them or similar at most craft stores like Michaels, Joanns or Hobby Lobby. If you get yourself a 40 or 50% off any one item coupon they become very reasonable in price. Quote
