Searching for instructions for nice MOCs was mostly fruitless, so I turned my attention to official Lego instructions from sets that had something cool in it.

75000 has instructions for a relatively simple droideka, but I don't have all the necessary parts yet.

76051 had Ant-Man as jumbo Giant-Man. Still need to order a few more special parts like the face and hands and connectors.

30611 is the buildable R2-D2, again with special parts.

Of official lego builds, I'd probably go with the four armed mech from Titan Mech Battle or Cyrus Borg from Overborg Attack.

However, I'd probably just build my own thing. Have you checked out rebrickable.com. The site has lots of MOCs with instructions.

I got a lot of older instructions for this use case, but as a "train nut" I got me the following ones:

Idea Book 7777 - very cool ideas, but the car loading facility on pages 22 to 23 is awesome, something I do want to have on my layout

4552 - the welding equipment looks cool and would give a nice impression in a workshop or garage

4557 - the container crane is nice, has some parallels to the one from set 7823, maybe do a crossover from both with folding boom? (the truck somehow is very disappointing)

4564 - the red dumper wagon looks cool, might rebrick it, but it definitely has to be a tad longer

7745 - maybe a rebuild of that train with newer parts? haven't decided yet...

and loads of other numbers I couldn't get my hands on yet  Hard to come by those train doors, nowadays... but I'll want to give a few of these a try.

Some things that come to mind are the piano in the Heartlake Grand Hotel, the Defender Video game console from the Dimensions Midway pack, and Chief Wiggim's car from the Kwik-E-Mart set.

I rarely ever Bricklink parts of sets I don't have to build, but I do often enjoy building sets I don't have (and even sets I have no intention of getting) on LDD just for the sake of learning the intricacies and techniques of the build.

Anyone see any nice variations of the Avengers jumbo Giant-Man design? I finally got the pieces to build my own Giant-Man, but am fine tuning the colors (red & black rather than original mostly black). I'm thinking about adding shoulder armor and maybe some sort of jet backpack.
