Best time to purchase large sets?

Hi,

I was wondering when the best time to buy large sets on Lego.com would be? anyone know when double VIP is starting, maybe then? I'd like to purchase the Disney Castle set soon. Thanks

Amazon or Costco is cheaper, when Costco actually carries Lego that is. I should have websearched Costco around Black Friday. I could have saved $10.

It really depends on your priorities. If you absolutely want the best prices, then the best time to buy sets is often when sets are close to retiring and get discounted through various retailers—though waiting that long on average sets is not just a challenge but a gamble (seeing as sets can easily go out of stock before you get your hands on them), and Lego exclusive "D2C" sets like the Disney Castle rarely get those sorts of discounts. For those, double points periods are generally your best bet.

The first double points promo of the year is typically in March or April. Other than that, I personally plan my purchases around which free gifts are being offered.

For large Technic sets, Costco from time to time have decent sales on them.  Some times they have limited inventory so you have to be quick.
