RebelRock Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I don't know what this supposed to be. A shop, house, whatever. All I know is that I was bored and wanted to build. Click image for gallery when public. Fronty More Piggy Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Beautiful, detailed, and you got the tudoring right from what I see. Great job, remindes me heavily of the blacksmith shop (legend set) lego put out some years ago. Great job. *sweet* Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 There's alot of beauty in simplicity *y* ! This is a wonderful MOC. I like how you've managed to achieve this without alot of sophisticated building techs. Too many MOCs go for complexity simply because they can. This is as beautiful a shop as I've seen, yet there's next to no SNOT work. We know that you're capable of some fantastic techniques. It's good to know that you can achieve greatness even with the simplest ones. A genuine master work. Quote

Athos Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I like the (for lack of a better term) inverted corner. Another idea I'm going to steal. Steve Quote
General Zen Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Awesome! It is a marvelous creation with absolote stunning detail. I hope to see more stuff like this from you in the future. Well done! ;-) Quote
Captain Ka-Boom Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) Great building. More like a project for me :'-( . I was wondering today what grey would look like with tan tudor style. You beat me to it. Edited January 18, 2008 by Captain Ka-Boom Quote
Kukla Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Really great job! I saw a lot of the Blacksmith Shop legend set in it too, but its really just the tapering roof you did. I love the evil shot too. Did you do an interior for it and/or are you working on one? I looked in the brickshelf gallery and didn't see it. I'd be curious to check that out. Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Fantastic work as always, this really makes me want to build something civilian like this... Is this all old gray? Quote
iamded Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Huzzah! Don't skeletons and dragons make things a lot more exciting?! :-D X-D This is a great building, it looks wonderful and the whole design is great, from the corners, to the roof, to the doors and windows, to the.... X-D ~Peace Quote
RebelRock Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 Is this all old gray? All new grays. Quote
Norro Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I like how you've managed to achieve this without alot of sophisticated building techs. Too many MOCs go for complexity simply because they can. True! I think that is what makes this MOC stand out from its contemporaries... God Bless, Nathan Quote
TheFrisian Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Everything has pretty much been said already, but still, what a nice creation! A perfect example of how a simple but well executed concept can work just as well as far more complicated structures. I'm actually kinda surprised at how well the grey/tan color scheme goes together, untill today I always had the impression that it was a rather dull combination. Well done! *y* Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 All new grays. Fantastic, it's really hard to tell from the picture. If this doesn't convince castlers who are stuck with the bley problem nothing will X-D Quote
RebelRock Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 Fantastic, it's really hard to tell from the picture. If this doesn't convince castlers who are stuck with the bley problem nothing will X-D I'm trying to move away from old grays altogether. Many new parts are being produced in the new grays and I like having the expanded selection to work with. Anyone want all my old gray? :-P Quote
iamded Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 All new grays. I didn't realise that at first! 8- Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Fantastic, it's really hard to tell from the picture. If this doesn't convince castlers who are stuck with the bley problem nothing will X-D I've never had a problem with new grey as a stand alone colour. My beef has always been that it simply matches poorly when mixed directly with the old stuff. I'm not stuck with a bley problem because new grey exists. I'm stuck with a bley problem because I have over 30,000 old grey bricks. If you haven't amassed such a stockpile of the old stuff, this problem is moot. There is nothing wrong with bley as a colour (new brown is another issue though :-X ). It looks good, and actually matches well with alot of the newer dark colours (dark red, blue, and green). So don't mind us old AFOLs with our obscenely large collections of old grey. I'm sure we'll find a way to manage with what we've got :-D . Quote
