berserker Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 while trying to learn the program, i found out that it was impossible to connect the gears and to make them work together but at some point, i managed to make the gears interact with each other and work together. the problem is that i'm unable to find out how. can someone explain this to me please? here is the ldd file https://ufile.io/274561 Quote
inkpanther Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 LDD doesn't support interactions between gears. You can't turn one gear to turn another and another. There's a tool called Hinge tool (shortucut: H) which allows you to rotate bricks. You have to rotate one of gears in order to avoid collision of its teeth with teeth of the second gear. In practice this means that you have to rotate an axle on which the gear is going to sit. In case of 12 tooth gears you have to rotate it 15 degrees. Quote
berserker Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 (edited) that's what i thought but if you take a look at the file, you'll see that the gears are actually working. i mean when you turn one, the other also turns with it. the problem is that i don't know how. it seems like a bug because i can't replicate the process. that's why i'm asking. just check it, you^ll see.. berserker Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 try this one. just take a look at it alright. try to turn all 4 axles, you'll see that the gears do interact with each other but not perfectly. just look please, you'll understand what i mean. https://ufile.io/d34d3 Quote
inkpanther Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 To me it only looks like the program is completely confused because 6585 parts are not connected by studs. This whole thing flexes in all directions when you try to rotate any axle. Try putting 6585s on a plate and this wont happen anymore. Quote
berserker Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 happened just as you said it would, no sign of interaction whatsoever while on a plate. i must say that the gears still look like turning to me though, especially in the first file i posted. alright, thanks anyway my friend; thank you for your time.
