8-Bit Ramen Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Do you ever have that moment where you have no idea where a set, piece, or minifigure is even though you know it's somewhere? I am right now... One of my favorite Lego sets is 79103, Turtle Lair Attack. I built it a couple of years ago but had to put it in a box somewhere to make space. I have no idea where that box is... I'm TORN I loved that set and who knows where it is now! For all I know my mom could have given it to charity! Okay, but really, now the set is like 3 times the price it used to be. I don't want to buy a new one, it's gotta be around here somewhere! Any tips on what to do? Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 First if your parents actually did give it away; find out by asking them. They should be honest, and if they realize how much the set meant to you they might move heaven and earth to get it back. However, since they probably know your love for Lego I doubt they would have given it away so quickly. Maybe then it has to have been mis-located in the house somewhere? I swear I have a vague memory of my B-Wing set vanished for awhile back during moves between houses until it resurfaced again in my new house; and then one of the minifigures went missing for a few years until I found it too. Good news if you need to buy the set again though; its only $44 dollars in the US on Bricklink: http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=79103-1#T=S&O={} Quote
Actor Builder Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Don't look for it. It will find you. Quote

I don't remember anything about it being given away, as my parents always used to ask me about things like that. I think it might have gotten lost somewhere... Maybe I should just give it a while. Thanks for the link to the set! I completely forgot about bricklink. 4 minutes ago, Actor Builder said: Don't look for it. It will find you. Hmmm. Are you making a joke and I'm stupid? Or is there a deeper meaning to that statement??? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 So here is a story: When I was young, I had the Scorpion Tracker, it was my favourite LEGO set. However as a child, my brothers and I forever existed in a state of them stealing my LEGO and me getting it back with interest! As such, somewhere in the years between me getting it and my reaching, say 14 (so a few years) a tile went missing . I didn't have huge amounts of LEGO, so I was quite disappointed that it was gone. My brothers denied all knowledge and that was that. This year, more than ten years later I was tidying up in the loft (incidentally, to make a space for my LEGO) I found a box half-full of my brother's childhood toys and assorted junk. (Yes, YuGiOh card wrappers totally need keeping) so I sorted through. There at the bottom, in a corner with a few stray bricks? My tile! So yes, things do turn up. If you wait, don't panic search and leave it there in your mind, you might just come across it. Quote
BubbaFit45531 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Yeah, I can't find the boxes for Delivery Center and Castle Battering Ram and I suspect my Star Wars mini figures (yellow faces) are there, along with a smaller green plate. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 My sons are still learning to take care of Lego. Actually, one is learning and the other we have given up on. We bought them nice sets in the last few years and they basically took everything apart and did not look after them. Some parts are chewed, more are lost, and others just sit around in a plastic bin. I painstakingly restored a classic X-wing fighter and a First Order TIE fighter. The parts have been bagged together and have been put away until I know the boys are ready for them. I almost completely recovered all of the parts for a Resistance Troop Transport, but one piece is missing. I know it is in the house somewhere, but it is nowhere to be found. Probably, I will Bricklink the lost part on the next order and then bag that set as well. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 What I do is use those clear plastic storage boxes :) Quote
BubbaFit45531 Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Plano 23730-05 Stowaway with Adjustable Dividers is good to keep parts/colors separate. It has many customizable plastic dividers and is deep enough to probably fit Gandalf and his tall hat. Ideally, I want to consolidate the bulk of my Lego into a large Iris polypropylene modular stacking box. Quote

BubbaFit45531 Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Actually, Amazon has a reviewer for the Plano box that uses it for Lego and included photos and said it fits Lego Dimension mini figures and vehicles. Quote
BubbaFit45531 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Moved stuff around to dig up and find my Star Wars mini figures and small boxed sets. Turns out I had Darth Maul Lightsaber Duel vs. Qui-Gon Jin and forgot I bought it. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 I'm sorry but I can't help you find you missing set, but I can relate, I've lost my series 1 zombie minfigure and they are at least five times the original price now. Quote
Megagan Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 This easily happens to me more often then I would like but with all the stuff I have its just a matter of looking through the right boxes. I know stuff has turned up that I have looked for in the past but for a while now I have not been able to find my Gypsy Moth minifigure but i'm sure she will turn up when i'm trying to build something completely unrelated. BubbaFit45531 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Today I bought a $7.99 Iris Stack & Pull extra small (but thin) plastic latch box for Lego Dimensions vehicles. I should have bought a $8+ Sterilite XL clip box too. If I consolidate most of my Lego into a large transparent plastic stacking crate, it'll be harder to misplace stuff. I also washed out a Jack in the Box breakfast platter made of polypropylene with intention to store something Lego in there. It already has a vent hole in case of gas release from plastic. Quote
scoiltreasa Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Yes spent 40 minutes searching for my 75157 figures! Quote
