SkaForHire Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Ok, so i made a huge blunder. I live next to a Lego Store in Orlando, FL, I also receive a 10% discount because I work for Disney - so last November I walked into the lego store and saw a shelf full of castle tic tac toe - five skeleton knights, five armored knights for $12 before my discount. Being tight on money, i figured I would pick some up in January or February when things usually go on sale at the Lego Store. Boy was I wrong... I checked back a few days they were all gone. I asked a cashier and he said they were limited time only and that they would not get any more again. I figured he must just not know what he was talking about, because that was a very limited edition if true - and it doesn't seem like something lego does. anyway now it is January and of course they don't have any and not even the Lego Online shop has any mention of these sets. SO I was wondering if anyone else had seen these sets and knows anything else about them... like if they were really extremely limited edition? (they didn't say on them that they were limited edition either) for 12 dollars they were the ultimate army builder for the new castle. I am kicking myself a lot considering i have a discount at the store and I had a chance to pick up as many as I wanted... Quote
Dr. Brick Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Hm thats weird, they had them on S@H not so long ago. You can get a City version though. Dr. Brick Quote

iamded Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I guess it's just another case of bad luck. :-/ There's always eBay or Bricklink. :-$ ~Peace Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 That happened to me several months ago. It sold out on S@H and they're not getting any more in. I've sent letters only to get a form response saying they're not coming back. I then paid a trip in mid-december to my "local" lego store where I saw 7 of those babies and snatched them all up. When I spoke with a cashier (an AFOL) he informed me that they never expected demand to be that high, so didn't make as many. Also mentioned that they weren't planning on making any more. I'm afraid you're out of luck if they didn't have any in the back room :-/ Quote
nausicaakro Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 in italy the castle TIC TAC TOC set never appears, Also in the shop online you cannot order it! it's sold out! :'-( still we can order dwarf mine... :-) nausicaakro Quote
The Penguin Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Lucky you! :-D They don't have S@H here in Russia, not to mention that there is no tic-tac-toe.... But the figs themselves are avaible for 2-3$ each.... So, it turns out that it's not very expensive, is it? Yours faithfully, Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 I suppose the moral of the story was don't ever pass up such a good thing... I just wish they would have said "limited edition" or something on them, if they had I would have at least bought 2 or 3. (as i did with the now hard to find dwarf mine) Quote
brickzone Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I was happy even to have the extra black tile bricks included as well as the figs! Made it just that little bit extra better value. If I ever got really desperate, I could even remove the baseplate from the box. However, I'm not short on baseplates for now. Quote
TheFrisian Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 The Tic Tac Toe set only has the lead general figures of both armies. I'm actually quite interested to know why anyone would want to build an army of generals? Seems to me there are much better army builders with a variety of generic soldiers out there, such as Crossbow Attack and the new Impulse soldiers. Quote
The Penguin Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I'm actually quite interested to know why anyone would want to build an army of generals? Well, for me an armored skeleton was never a general, but some kind of an elite footman.... ) >:-) Quote
nausicaakro Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 yes i quote The penguin... 'skelly in armour aren't general, they are only another type of (super) troops! the same for armour crownie... *knight* nausicaakro Quote
